That's fine, as long as you don't drive until 10 consecutive hours off duty....or you like taking a long split.

so you can be safe, yet non-compliant

    and herein lies the problem

we have put compliance above safety

What I find funny is we aren't compliant to ourselves. If we had it our way this compliant stuff is crap as we have not put it upon us. Government has and is dictating what we as professional drivers do. How many of them have ever driven a truck? They know nothing about the trucking industry other than they can make money off of us. I run paper logs and if I wanted I could run illegal everyday as long as I fixed my book before turning it in. Just because I can doesnt mean I do. So trying to call every paper runner an outlaw and say he is running 18 hours a day is bologna. We as drivers don't get the credit of being professionals that we deserve.

I like you, you seem smart (I've been fooled before). I bet that you COULD (not that you would) adapt to running elogs within 4 days.

I like to move my truck when I want. I haven't taken a 34 reset on the road for years but if I did there is no way I would sit in one place for all that time. Another example... I was running across 64 in KY headed north west for the house and I should of made it with about an hour before my 11 ran out and this was a friday night. Well anyway I blew my main air compressor line and got pulled over and called out a mechanic. Ol boy shows up and said well going to have to wait till monday so I can have one made and then I will get you going. What wait till monday I said, thats 3 days away. So I took some hose clamps and electical tape and some zip ties and patched my compressor line and drove 5 hours to the house. Because of one little thing I was not going to be stuck for 10 hours or for 3 days. Hadno problem getting to the house or never had a problem after. I personally know how to use a pencil and paper and fill in the blanks.I don't need E-logs as I know how to think. Some people are better off having a computer do the thinking for them and some are smart enough to do what the world of trucking is about. Maybe if I were born into this generation of guys who didn't know how good paper was then I would be with you on the e-logs. Guess thats one good thing about being "old". I just know I could never go from being in control of what my checks are and being home when I want to be to being controlled by E-logs. If I were to be forced into E-logs then I should be paid hourly as I will not spend 120+ hours in a truck and only get paid for 77.

Just fooled you I suppose. :biggrin_2559::biggrin_255:

In situations such as this, sometimes your elogs might crash. As in blue screen, my quallcomm is running windows operating system after all. It may crash and I'll have to switch to paper. Its happened before. Maybe it crashes and you happen to forget about what time your 11 expires. Make it home and reset your logs. ;)

I don't see how. I've been driving a truck since 1994. I've never been one to stop at truck stops to play the quarter games... I run. In the past 3 years using e-logs I have been getting more rest and seen more pay. Mainly because load planers are now having to do there job and find legal loads for drivers to pull, instead of having us wait and then just push loads on us at the last minute. That is the biggest point you people keep missing.
