Seems like you two choose to skip over the point in posting the numbers. There are plenty of company's running E-logs that have HORRIBLE numbers in every category even though they should be perfect since they are running the nanny bs. The bend over freely type that keep standing up for all of these bs regs are hurting this industry more than a guy running paper logs. Paper logs haven't killed anybody. People not paying attention or being responsible have killed. Whats sad is the same ones that are willing to freely have this nanny crap are the same ones that are one day going to freely give up their right to bear arms. Sad anyway you look at it

You seem to assume way too much. Equating gun ownership with E-logs! Give us a break, they have nothing to do with each other.

Oh the thing is I wasn't assuming anything. The way the fellow drivers are so willing to allow the regs that do nothing good for the industry is just down right terrifying. How does gun ownership and E-logs have nothing to do with each other? The base point is the same for both. You are so willing to allow the owners of this country dictate how you make a living and are so willing to abide by the "rules" now and say the rest of us must be "outlaws" and "rule breakers" and we need to just adapt to the tyranny or get a different profession. Therefore when the time comes to take away guns YOU WILL be one of the first saying "they" are right and if people don't turn them over they are "outlaws" or "rule breakers" and need to find a different country to move to. There isn't any difference between my example other than you don't care about the nanny bs when it comes to trucking and your livlihood but you DO CARE when it comes to what you choose to care about.

Not too bad for me. One problem is our company hires new drivers and doesn't properly train them how to use them. I've met a lot of fellow drivers that have been here 6 months or so and don't know jack.

My trainer taught me the basics but there's a lot more you need to know, like editing your logs, and approving hours.

I've said this before, if I choose to work for a company that runs elogs then that's my choice. Personally if I was an independent I would run paper. I don't mind doing math at the end of my day.

Also, I might not be OTR much longer. My year is December 10th and because of something that happened on my hometime last week I will be seeking a local job soon. I won't give up trucking, just otr. :/

I am not picking on ya or nothing just showing that E-logs really don't do a thing other than make other peoples jobs easier for them. Good luck in what you do and take care of family first.(I assume family is what happened on hometime).

Well if they don't know how to use them correctly then they're going to be getting fines. Such as being on the wrong line while on a duty status or choosing the incorrect status. Simple things like that which are actually missed a lot of times by new guys.

As for editing, our elogs by quallcomm allow you to edit all lines EXCEPT for driving. I've forgotten several times when I park for the night to take myself off of line 4. So I wake up and I've been on line 4 for 10 hours. You just change your status, then that allows you to go in and change the line 4 time to line 1 or 2. You can also edit them and cut times.

For instance, if you're on line 1 the whole 10, but you were in sleeper for awhile and forgot to change it. You could take that whole line and cut it to where you were on line 1 for 2 hours, then line 2 for 6 hours then back to line 1 for 2 hours. Then go on duty for pre trip.

I agree that elogs do NOT automatically make anyone a safer driver. I also strongly agree that companies or drivers that have good scores should be allowed to continue on paper. From a company point of view elogs are great, from a drivers or Independent's point of view, paper can be better (less costly).

I'm not trying to argue with anyone, or start anything. I run elogs, they're OK, I choose to be on them since that's what our company runs. In a perfect world elogs work for everyone, in the real world certain things need to be done the old fashioned way.

Also yes, it was family. My brother and I have been living with my dad for the past few years, my dad past away on the 14th. Had to leave the house the day before thanksgiving since I gotta make money. My dad was only 58, so it definitely wasn't expected. Luckily my dispatcher didn't mind giving me a few more days home. Since he didn't have a will, we have to get an attorney and see if we can keep the house. I need to make more money and I want to be home more because of it. I don't know what's going to happen in the coming years, I just don't want to be 2,000 miles from home when I get a call telling me we might lose the house or something. So I gotta do something. I need to at least be home every weekend.

Those number for Drty's company aren't all that bad considering the number of accident's they've had in the last two years. On a side not the MPG jackets they give out there are pretty decent and one has been keeping me warm for the last 4 years.

Sorry for your loss Ethan, hopefully things work out for you.
