We don't use E-logs...but we did a "Beta Test" with Q-Comm....in the class they told us that if the unit (system) fails, the driver gets the fax or e-mail address for the scale from the officer and the company sends the previous days to the scale....you then have (they have) access to previous days entries. And they (company) requests the scale to give copy to driver for his records and to "build" his current stats and have on hand. This was from both Q-Comm and CHP/DOT.
But you do need to have a current log...so you need to have with you a legitimate log (paper) with you just in case. -
Inspection on the side of the road, no ability to fax, could leave to problems.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
This was addressed....every LEO has internet capabilities in his vehicle...they can forward to the unit at the location...can't print it (some can) but they can still have access through a link with dispatch.

Not aware that internet is available everywhere even for them.

I haven't seen a cruiser without computer dispatch in many years!

There are many of them. In my area, there are places phones do not even work.

The Chp and sheriff in this area have laptops and printers, internet access would be quote easy since they are radio linked into the information system.
