The real problem for me as an o/o with e logs and eobrs are the extra cost that it will put on me. Im not a huge corporation (just a one man show) that can get lower per month rates on using all the electronics, Much cheaper using paper logs. And no I dont run illegal as I want to be one of the last drivers driving getting 10.00 per mile and netter when they are not many drivers left because of csa 2010. I have already seen people losing their driving privileges due to csa 2010. I havebt seen ANY effects of using e logs except higher cost for me which isnt needed.

Now that I understand. I can imagine though as the FMCSA mandidates e-logs for O/O's, they will fork the bill. If not, I would tell them to take the e-log and stick it.

I will have to pay for e-logs and a EOBR thats why the OOIDA is fighting so hard as its not right or fair that all of us taxpayers had to foot the bill for the mexican trucks to have eobr's to come and haul cheap freight. I could understand I guess if I was causing trouble maybe but still not right. I dont understand why they just dont upgrade all chicken coops to be able to use prepass and then we are all made to have one. Pre-pass has all your info: vin, if you have tractor licensed and with current ifta, speed, weight, location. They could easily figure out (using automated software) at the next pre-pass site whether or not you should be there at that time. Oregon takes your picture (whether or not scale open or closed) and they have busted several truckers with paper logs cooking the books. It seems like a better option to me as no one would be able to deny the picture,

Elogs have never really been about safety. It is about money. If they are ever successful in mandating this for the entire industry those who invest in the technology (manufacturing) stand to make a fortune. Consider that there are approximately 3-5 million trucks on the highway. With a monthly fee of $45/month that will generate a monthly revenue stream of $135-225 million per month. Multiply that by 12 months and it starts to look like real money. That comes out to $1.62-2.7 Billion That does not include the cost of purchasing the equipment. Estimates of each unit have been from $1,200-3,600 each. That will also run in the billions of dollars. It isn't safety but greed that is driving this mandate. If those proposing this legislation believe that it will make roads safer, then let them prove it with a real life study. They won't because there is no way to prove that elogs will make drivers more safe than doing paper. I have logged more than 4 million miles and have a clean MVR, clean DAC and no CSA points. Millions of others have not had log violations who have driven for many years. And to think that we did it without elogs!!

Elogs are also about the mega-carriers eliminating competition. That's why the ATA supports mandating eobr's along with 65mph for every truck, and other anti competitive measures. If anything having an eobr telling me it's ok to drive when I'm tired is about the most unsafe thing I can think of. Drivers that were too stupid to run paper logs will just get bowled over from company harassment telling them to drive if tired because the eobr says they can. Cant believe all the cheerleaders and supporters of eobr in this forum...

To the OP. Tiss the season to be jolly. Then again maybe not. Yea, E-Logs will be perfect for those who don't mind making peanuts and eatting ramen noodles for the rest of your natural born days. #### that! I like to have nice things and eat a nice fat steak every once in a while. They can take their e-logs and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. Why? Because the current pay rate will never go up to compensate for lost time, leaving companies to make their money regardless if not more and sending us working stiff's further into the poor house. Sence when did a trucking company actually stop to think and give two ##### about us?

I love E-Logs! I have to work balls to the wall to make my logs work. I don't stop to eat a good meal, i just grab a fried death stick from the flying j fuel desk, shove it down my throat while driveing. I got to keep moveing, no time for a nap, got keep compliant. Would love to take a nap, but my E-Log says I have to keep driveing because my drive time is under my 14hr clock. Gotta make that load ontime with the safety first E-Log! B.S. This is from someone who has been on E-Logs for years. Anyone who thinks E-Logs are for safety is on crack!

If load scheduling is that tight you need to get a new carrier . Would the world end if you were delayed due to a blown tire or traffic stopped due to a wreck ?
