In 2008, there were 4,066 trucks involved in fatality crashes. According to the numbers above, 1.4% of them would be due to fatigue, or 5.69 trucks. We'll just say 6 to keep it simple.
Six trucks involved in fatality crashes as a result of fatigue in 2008 and the numbers continue to fall.

You know? I'm ....actually, okay with that, considering there are well over 2,000,000 trucks on the road today. That means your chance of being killed by a fatigueds driver is 1 in 333,333 trucks. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning: 1 in 280,000 people.

Shug,,, bump that decimal over a skosh,,,4066 X 1.4%=56.924,,or to round up 57,,,Or once a week somewhere in the USA there is a tragedyvolvodriver01 Thanks this.

Oops. My bad. Hit that "0" one time too many. However, the number still does not justify the broad mandate. Keep in mind, fatality crash numbers have gone down the past three years.
ECU51 and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
My point is, it is hardly the mayhem people are being led to believe.
volvodriver01 and ECU51 Thank this. -
You need to remember one thing and that is you keep preaching WE Need the government to force US as CMV drivers to have EOBRS and Elogs when there are numbers that show there are plenty of other factors they can work on rather then get in my truck and hold my hand. I showed a few good points on this whole subject not hiding anything and yet YOU only bring up what you want to keep Preaching this upon us Drivers....G/MAN Thanks this.

Im gonna set the line at 100 pages and pick the under,,LOL,funny thing I wass just over in the "Truckers Strike section",,,Literally had to blow the dust off of those threads,,but im sure if the ruling goes unfavorable towards CMV drivers that section will be full of supposed strike dates

I wonder if there are any figures concerning 4 wheelers and fatigue related fatalities?volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
That's because most of us actually work for a living rather than take online classes on how to build a cool website during time not spent getting rubbish shoved into our minds a la CNN and Fox.volvodriver01 Thanks this.

NHTSA might have 'em.
Worst "4 wheeler" accident I can recall wasn't just fatigued related - it was absolutely caused by fatigue.
Mother drives her two kids to the airport to pick-up dad coming off of an international business flight. They stop on the way home to grab lunch. At some point Dad takes over the driving. He fell asleep, drifted into opposing traffic and went head on with a straight truck delivering cinder block. Killed his whole family. Mom and the kids were dead at the scene. Dad got flown to the trauma center; mercifully he succumbed to his injuries.
To make matters even worse the kid (had to be about 19) who was driving the truck was a basket-case to the point where i wonder if he was ever able to get right again.volvodriver01 Thanks this.
