Wait till you have to compete with the mexican based carriers. The big multi nationals want low freight rates if they could send the driving jobs offshore they would. The government is helping the Mexican companies pay for eobr. I have to pay for my own I'm sure!
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Don't keep up on the news too much do ya? Participation by Mexican carriers, in the program is so bad the FMCSA is considering shutting it down.
BTW, the FMCSA owns those EOBRs, not the Mexican carriers as we can not require them to have something we are not required to have in our own trucks.
This ain't the truckstop lunch counter, so that doo doo won't fly. -
Could be the counter.
Have links to support claims? -

I can post plenty of others, too. It's no secret. -
Neither one of the articles you shown state they were considering shutting it down.

Thank You!
BTW. All these Drivers cheering our "benevolent" Govt for ridding the trucking industry of folks who don't want to be robots and have someone hold their hands throughout life. Be careful what you wish for Comrades. Life involves risks! It's called personal responsibility, and part of a free society. How did we survive all these years without all of this horse dung.
I'll go put my tinfoil hat on now thank you. -
That's exactly what happened here! Our tacho graphs were supposed to improve safety, improve rates etc etc but what's actually happened is you spend more time away from home ( Alot of companies require 3 weeks away) companies are hiring eastern European driver and transport companies so they can have two drivers at half the cost of a local driver, two drivers don't have the same restrictions as a single driver as regards driving hours, in some countries to interfere with the tacho lands you in prison for fraud, they are so strict you can be prosecuted for literally driving a few minutes over your time and you can be done for it anytime within a year so if you're an hour away from home and your due a weekend break (45 hours) and you got no way of getting home you're stayin with the truck so quality of life has suffered. And another thing, the rates have never been worse!

No offense to you fellows across the pond, but a few uneducated idiots in this country think, "but that will never happen here" , are in for a rude awakening. I don't want the US to become more like Europe.

"The agency is extremely concerned about not having sufficient data," Quade told the agency's Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee at its meeting in Alexandria, Va. Without more participation, FMCSA cannot collect adequate data to evaluate Mexican carriers' safety, resulting in the program's failure, Quade said.
They won't continue to fund a failure. -
European trucks have been running tachographs since before I was stationed in Germany, in 1975. They are not exactly new there.
