QCom does record who the user was to change a log entry. To change one if your not in the truck you must log in to your account and then pull up unit anx driver. All of that is kept in a log of usage. It does not appear in faxed or emailed copies but is just recorded in user account according to our log lady. She said it will be listed if/when logs are pulled for audit. I have no idea what the difference is, but I can tell you when my first one locked up(touch pad interface) and she went in a changed my status at my request it showed on the ones pulled for tax time.

Not real sure if that is just in our settings or what.

My guess is we are right, there IS an original. What you were told was an intentional/unintentional falsehood, I'm sure. Security details are NOT provided to the public because the public will find a way to hack the security. When I worked with a networked computer lab the Admin lied to me all the time about security stuff. It's the old "Don't ask me no questions and I won't tell you no lies".

Here is the singly most pathetic paragraph in this article...good ole ATA boss Graves!

Basically saying that so many crashes are the fault of the trucks....lets not put any blame on those poor 4 wheelers!

You've hit that nail so squarely on the head you've driven it out the other side of the plank!! Like here 5 mins over your time ( and it will happen! ) you have an accident -- you're a murderer ! I'm not asking ye to believe me but that's the gods honest truth! The attitude here is if your overtime ( no matter 5 minutes or 24 hours ) you have an accident you're automatically to blame! The charge??? Manslaughter ! Approval of this bill only paves the way for legislation for improsning truckdrivers! Try resist this guys! From a former company owner and o/o that understands the problems these laws create, we've had them here for years , they do nothing for safety!

So just for the record regardless if you are in HOS violation you are likely to be charged with manslaughter.

That's true, same here, but this is another way of locking up hard working middle class guys like you and me, it's happened here years ago, just easier to blame us than do a proper investigation! I admit sometimes they saved us but sometimes they had innocent men locked up!

it's a realistic concern, I tell my drivers that if they are ever going to operate outside of the HOS to think about how they would defend their actions in court. I think it's a pretty easy argument to convince people that working 7 minutes over your allotted time to make. However if you are in an egregious HOS violation it's much more difficult to argue that.
