If you're just starting out, Schneider is a good company to start with. FAR BETTER than WE and Werner. Stay as FAR AWAY from Werner as you can - they will #### you with your own dick then make you #### them with it. My OP was just about letting off some steam. After you've driven a bunch of years for a few different companies you should have a better appreciation for it. If you're looking for reefer I hear Jim Palmer in Missoula, MT is pretty good but judging by Allie Knight's YouTube videos I think they only hire crazy people.
Good luck to you.
Why Did You Quit Schneider?

How scary is this?
jeff18, 91B20H8, EatYourVeggies and 1 other person Thank this. -
That classic case of watching trailer wheels at the curb and missing what's happening above.

Ugh. That #### overspeed does the same thing to me. Truck will go 64 now that it's turned up (solo). But if I come up on a truck going 62-63 on an empty stretch that I'm on forever and I want to pass them I either have to get in the other lane 350 feet back or hit the pedal to override onguard to get close to them and then pass. Best part is that the pedal doesn't speed the truck up at all anymore. Just registers overspeed. And over the course of a day, just doing that will bring up the overspeed count to something like 10%.....
As far as getting it turned up, at least they did it for you. I had a PM done on December 1st. So I had to wait until next PM which for me wasn't until march 20th... and then the edwardsville shop turned it up to 62 instead of 63. My next stop from there was Indy and I just went into the express bay and asked if they could fix it. They did. Took 5 minutes. Here's the #### problem. I went January 1st to march 20th with the truck still going 60 when the effort to change it would have taken them 5 minutes? ....zzzz
However, I haven't quit yet. Some things on this thread are way true but others I just don't see. I routinely run out of hours now in 6-7 days because I keep driving 3500+ miles. I've been getting steady raises (started at 39cpm and a year later I'm at 42) and while my dbl lies to me allllllllll the time at least she's pleasant about it. I'm home on time and more, actually writing this from the house because I needed a reset and they routed me to take one at home just because I asked if it was possible. Still coming home for scheduled hometime next weekend no problem. I feel that the mileage for everyone varies here. And I've never had even the slightest issue with making the quarterly bonus. Idk. Doesn't mean I'm not looking, but unfortunately for me to quit I'd have to make much more money or be home much more and where I live these things just aren't available.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 8, 2017
Reason for edit: Fixed quote4mer trucker, OPUS 7 and Lonesome Thank this. -
Sound's brutal. Well a lot of folks (including Ike Stephens) say the 1 week OTR isn't enough to prepare new drivers. That and I don't want to share a hotel room for 2 weeks when at Werner I can pay for my own single room at max 3-5 days. Ike mentioned at SNI when they do the OTR training week that it's mostly city driving.Last edited: Apr 8, 2017
OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
1 week OTR isn't enough.
I've heard rumor CRE has a no time limit with trainer now. -
1 week otr was plenty. If it's not enough for some, they can ask for more. They can do 3 weeks otr with a trainer if they so desire. Much better than a month and after the first week it's team driving like so many do.Rocknroller4 Thanks this.

I trained. Some of those guys need a year, not a week
-
Well... let's be honest. Some of those guys shouldn't be in a truck at all and if the nature of the business wasn't to put fresh meat in the driver seat and fire them as they fail then that would be one thing. But if that was the case, perhaps driving these things would be considered a skilled trade and not a job that really should be done by a machine.Rocknroller4 and 91B20H8 Thank this.

Most of those guys.......
