Weighed one at the plant one time, before they quit using that scale, and got popped at Wrightsville on 41, for heavy in the trailer.
Reclaimed salt totes loaded with a tele fork from the ground and not to the front.
I argued and won the argument. That scale was ruined by having axles slid on the scale.
We have a large platform scale and have to split weigh to do axles, now, they never finished the other scale. They put a remote readout in security.
Why Didn’t I Get A Ticket?

My rookie year I got popped in Knoxville for being grossly overweight, no pun intended . I was taking a load of dry wall back up to Ohio. The load was rejected and had to be returned. There wasn't any bills on the load. Preloaded trailer, at the drop yard in AL. I called and asked why there wasn't any bills. Sat around til they sent a message to the Qualcomm to roll with it. It turned out I was grossing 98k. My ticket was 391 dollars. The company got one for 900 dollars. They ended up paying both, only because of the Qualcomm message that said roll with it. Couple of lessons, scale it first, and put everything in the Qualcomm. From that point on, if I had any doubt in my mind, Cat scale it is.
Gearjammin' Penguin, D.Tibbitt, farmerjohn64 and 2 others Thank this. -
It really didn’t cross my mind, but yesterday changed thatRideandrepair Thanks this.

Sounded more like advice than chewing out, definitely plan on weighing my loads for now on201 Thanks this.

As I previously said scaling never crossed my mind even though it was my job and my trainer said, “There wasn’t a CAT scale in Wilmington, NC” after I drove for several hours more than likely passing up a couple free scales lol I had to stop for another weigh station a bit down the road and he got all flustered that I didn’t just keep going; sometimes I wonder what the hell he’s on to say something as stupid as that, luckily they gave me the green light for some reason and after that all I had to worry about for the rest of the night was crawling traffic because the stations were all closedWasted Thyme Thanks this.

Um, I'm not sure they can do that, take money out of your check for a fine, unless it's specifically stated in your hiring agreement. Hiring agreement? What the hell was that?farmerjohn64 Thanks this.

Okay, let me bring some guys in this thread since it seems like your trainer is a Braindead. @kylefitzy, @jamespmack, @PoleCrusher
What kind of trailer are you pulling and how long is it? You were over on the trailer, but under 80000 GVW, correct? How heavy was the load? If you are pulling a spread axle and you went over by 4000 on the trailer, your trainer has no idea what he’s doing. Hopefully, the guys will jump in and help you figure out how to properly load a trailer.Cattleman84, Bean Jr., farmerjohn64 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’ll reference the ticket itself for you once I have access to it; he’s driving at it’s in a compartment above his head, I’m interested myself
-
I didn’t even know to scale every load until now because out of the two months with 3 different trainers we’ve only scaled a handful of times and I’ve personally only done it once

Where I run they've mostly been closed. IL, Iowa, WI.
Don't pass any in MN where I run.farmerjohn64 Thanks this.
