Why do 80% of drivers dress like bums?

I was never properly in the Navy, but I did go on a Tiger cruise.
Hawaii to San Diego with my brother, who was a signalman on an aircraft carrier. CV-64, ..."One of the fastest ships in the Navy, as proven by her victory during a battlegroup race held in 1985, she was nicknamed "Connie" by her crew and officially as "America's Flagship".

Our bunks were near the front of the ship, so when aircraft were taking off we would experience the full swoosh...BANG of the catapult. It was fun, except when I was trying to sleep.

Being part of the bridge crew my brother pretty much had run of the ship, so, so did I.
As such I once ended up where I wasn't suppose to be - at eye level with the launch deck because I went out a certain hatch that was supposed to be shut.
But, me being me... and with my camera, I went out where we were not supposed to be.

And I got the most wonderful picture.

I go out, and it is just at dusk.
There is a helicopter just about to take off, with a single deck crew directing.
The lighting could not have been more perfect, nor the scene.
And I got the shot.
A once in a lifetime shot.
If a picture can say a thousand words, this one might say a million.

I almost lost that camera by taking another picture.
I was in the anchor room.
I looked out of the hole where the anchor went, right down to the bow and breaking waves.
I couldn't resist, even though that high up it is a bit windy.
My camera went out and I shot blind, but another priceless shot.


You may not miss the sea life, but I certainly had a lot of fun with that sea life.
