Every once in a while I see one of those old beasts and get all nostalgic, thinking maybe I'd like to take it for a ride. Then my back has a spasm and says, "Oh hell no you don't!"

Companies spec out trucks so stupidly because it's cheap. If a joe blow gum company needs 150 trks. Then kw will offer them at a discount price. Like instead of 140k per unit it will be 100 a trk. As long as it's basic. (no options in the cab, a ten spd trans. A rear end ratio that's not set up for hill climbing. And other stuff like that.)

And the smart thing the company does when the truck arrives. Is tell some smuck that they could own a trk some day. And Owner/ops make great money. So while your paying for something you may never own. Joe blow gum company is making great profits with low over head cost. Because they can blow bigger bubbles with the longer lasting gum they created with the $$$ they made off the stupidity of the leased trk!

Now dim your lights with a hammer and run my freight at 65mph annd fuel where I tell ya. Oh yea but it's your truck though! But I will charge ya $100p/hr shop time to fix those bulbs.

I'm really starting to belave the genral public saying that truck drivers are dumb. Why would anybody lease a trk???

Read through the entire thread and not once was the make and model of the truck in question stated or queried. Since such details are unimportant, let me say that my unidentified company truck will allow window operation in accessory position, I can completely switch off dash illumination and access the full menu on the dash info screen.

Clock still shows the wrong time...but only when the Qualcomm boots up.
