Wait until they cut the sidewall of the tire and they may take another look. It is hard with a semi pulling a 53' trailer to make some of these turns. I wouldn't want to do it. With my truck and trailer I can carry just as much product and turn better around corners than most trucks. I have pivot points point in the middle which makes it much easier. But before when I was OTR I always watched for the sidewalk and there are some you just have to go over. It all depends on the demographics and truck more so than the driver. But don't get me wrong there are some drivers that just do not have a clue.
why do drivers cut corners

I'll bet there isn't a single driver here that hasn't cut short.......at least once......

Freebird you have raised the dander of more than a few drivers with your post. Your inexperience abounds.
Keep in mind that by the time you see the trailer on the sidewalk, the circumstance which may have caused it is gone.
Since you've got all the time in the world to sit and watch the particular intersection in your post, keep track of the successful turns and unsuccessful turns. I'm sure the percentage of unsucessful ones will be quite low. -
I don't know why all you guys are getting worked up it's just another rookie that thinks he know it all.

As i'm sure S---t is the ONLY company to ever do this at said corner in your example......
but anyway, the reason drivers run wheels over curbs boils down to one thing. Plain LAZYNESS. Now i will agree there are corners that are just too darn narrow.....but for the others its just plain lazy. Oh....dont have the room to swing left to turn right (or vice versa) because a 4-wheeler is in the way??? guess what.....then you WAIT for them to move, and you GET the room. What if it was your wife and kids standing right there on that corner, would you still run the tandems over the curb? (i'm sure some would want to aim for their wives...LOL)
The company pays you to make good decisions. Say you run the tandems over the curb, and you hit it just right, blow out the tire, bend the rim.....was that a good decision? Now you've just had a preventable accident. nice going. and why? because you were lazy. -
im not a rookie who thinks he knows it all but i am a good driver and confident in my abilities, and i drive this corner every single day on my way home from work and im telling you theres honestly no logical reason i can think anybody should cut this corner except laziness

What about those #### "round-abouts"......
The ones in CO off the 70 come to mind.....or how about that one in Fernley, NV?
And there's that one in KS......IIRC in Garnett.....PITA....
Every one of them are stained black from either running rubber along the curbs or on top of the curbs.... -
I had to deliver a load to a warehouse by the airport outside DC one night, and I couldn't find the street I had to turn off onto. It was pitch dark outside and I went up and down the street 2 or 3 times before I finally found it. The reason? The street sign had been set back about 25' from the street corner because truck drivers kept jumping the curb and knocking it down. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why. It was a big street with plenty of room for turns, but for some reason people had a problem with it. Who knows why? It's just one of those things, I guess.
