Why do drivers have to accept freebies

When I had my union job, which was by the hour, boss calls me in one day, ( I was the new guy, mind you) and he says, "Semi, how come you get done an hour sooner than all the other drivers that do those routes"? I was a bit taken back by that and said, "well, I take my lunch and coffee with me, and run the stops out, and come back". Boss was happy. Guess what, the union steward was next, and said the same thing, only with a different meaning than the boss. The steward said, get this, " I noticed you are coming back an hour before the others, are you taking your breaks"? Clearly making the schmoes look bad. I said, "no, I want to get done as soon as I can, and go home". His reply, "well, we fought pretty hard for those breaks back in the strike of '88, you just take them"! It was the best of jobs, and the worst of jobs.

 

Holy crap that's a lot. It's like $2.50 here in Vegas, Walmart brand.

 

Convert some of those cows into steaks. Levels out the milk market and who doesn't like lower priced steaks?.

I'm a genius.

 

Maybe the casinos are subsidizing the milk in Vegas.

 

Fine but then it's your choice to put up with it.

 

I can't blame the "fool"....and it's unwise for you to side with the company.

If, again, if your company is being honest in its assessment, then having a talk, with supporting evidence should not be that hard to do. If the slacker pulls the race card, he can't win.

Simply dispatch both of you at the same time, see who comes back first. Repeat test 2 times, then terminate due to valid incompetence.

I think your "race card" explanation is made up. There's more to the story than you think you know.
