When you sign on with a company you know if they are governed and what your rate of pay is. When most companies spec trucks they follow MFG spec for optimum efficiency and to ensure operation at those rates they set the speed to match.

Driveers may very well benefit from these lower costs by being able to run more efficiently they can make lower bids on contracts garnering their drivers more work.

Some people still take pride in the company they work for, and would like to help better the company in any way they can. Its such a shame the way people like at employers nowadays.

When you get .60/mile, 2800 drop/hook miles/wk and home every night like me you don't mind a 65mph truck at all.
I was O/O for years and it took a while to get used to it, but now it's actually kind of relaxing kicking back and just cruising along.
I don't have to worry about cops or nothing like that anymore. So "c'mon over big truck, you got me":yes2557:

The speed one drives has no real effect on the distance they travel. We used to run 75, we got cut to 67. Big deal. At 65 mph, you can run 715 miles in an 11 hour period. The trick? Keep the door closed. Driving 70-75 mph tires you faster, not to mention costs more fuel and more wear & tear on your truck. See those owner operators you blow by while they are doing 60-65? They are all about revenue. something you don't know a whole lot apparently. Get a couple more year's under your belt kid and then come talk to us.

yea ive only been driving for a little over 2 years, guess i got lucky to be hired on to a company that actually cares about their drivers, not just the bottom line.
and yea, i also take pride in my company. i work really hard and make my company a lot of money. i love my company. they are great to me. im 28 years old, 2 years into my career, and i have no doubt i will retire with this same company that hired me as a noob.

but whatever, im going to bed. trying to stick up for people, but leave it to truckers to be happy to drive under the speed the limit, while paid by the mile, and be happy for the money they are saving the company, while being screwed by a few bucks an hour you could make going the speed limit. most drivers on here complain all the time about the way they are treated, but if everyone stood up for themself, companies would have no choice but to treat drivers right.

just because you have a truck that CAN do 90, doesn't mean you HAVE to do 90.

driver responsibility comes into play here.

If a company doesn't care about its bottom line it won't be a company for very long.

well if your getting 60 cents a mile, then you are being compensated for going under the speed limit, so im not really talking about you. you work for a good company that reimburses you for the money they save having you drive slower. good for you. im more talking about the people that are in the 30's per mile, yet still governed. and i am home every night too in a daycab, so u dont have that one me
