why do drivers stand for governed trucks?

This is too funny. I see the dummies fly by me then fueling up down the road while im buying coffee. They dont own the truck that is why they drive like that and the owner is a bigger dummy for letting that waste of fuel happen. Profits are not their concern I guess. Soon we all will be governed whether we like it or not. See you at the pumps. Reminds me of the hybrid car drivers who act like it is a race car. Lmao

 

Governing save millions of dollars in fuel costs every year. Roehl for example, goes on and on about safety, and they don't even pretend that the governing is for anything other than fuel efficiency, lol. Do your job the way you're told, or buy your own truck. Boo hoo you can't do 75 in the handful of states that actually allow it.

I understand that trucking is an enjoyable experience for many people here, but it is your job. You don't have a "right" to drive faster than your company allows you to.

 

People who never owned a truck don't give a rats ### about saving fuel. They think governed trucks are all about distrust to the driver. Yet they call themselves "Professionals".

 

I got almost 5.5 mpg last week, maybe my boss will give me a fuel bonus, and a pat on the back! I feel so professional!

 

I saw one of the earlier posts talking about reducing speed only saving .3 MPG on fuel. That's not a small number, lol. I'm brand spanking new to this industry, but from what I'm seeing, fuel efficiency is becoming more important than ever, and companies are adapting to it.

 

Even if your truck is not governed, if you're in a wreck, the insurance company will find out your speed. Same in your car. Trucks & cars are jammed with computers these days and the insurance companies know how to get the data out. If you're speeding down the interstate in a truck, the only person impressed, is you. Most people think a speeder is not to bright.

 

Betcha I wouldn't turned down plenty of jobs cause of governers and elogs and I stand behind in what I believe.

 

Maybe a company smart enough to actually save on fuel would be able to...pay you more?

If you just have the need for speed, that's your own thing, but we're talking about professionals working for a business, so that kind that is out of place there.

 

That's a crock. They wouldn't have fuel bonuses then. I've always been a company driver and took care of my truck and drove it like my own. My mpg's were right up there near the top.

Buying a truck doesn't make one elite. That's why all these people become fleece drivers. They think they boost up into some elite class. A driver and his habits is what makes a good driver. That can be an OO or a company driver.

 

Im a slow poke at 55 to 60 all day saving fuel. BUT my truck is not governed. its there if i need it. wouldnt have it any other way but its my truck. if i owned a fleet id cut them back to 60 mph and offer dummies a bs sign on bonus and 2 cents per mile.
