The sad part of it comes when you decide to start driving at such a late time in your life, with no experience. Even with my experience, they can find an excuse for folks my age.

Hence...the wellness physical. A level of examination that is not required by the DOT. I can pass one....but #### ! I won't work that hard in a week of driving....ever.

I would venture a guess, at least 30% of women fail it...outright.

Yeah I've been trying to get into Gordon right now and they're safety dept is dragging their feet.I'm not understanding why, especially when Watkins Shepard wants me right now! I'm giving them till monday afternoon and then I'm gonna give up and go somewhere else. I really want to stick with GTI, but how long do I have to wait?...:biggrin_25510: I guess some companies are worth waiting for though,if you can get in...

With regard to the economy, it isn't always smart to wait. Things are happening so fast, 10 openings this morning could turn to, "We need to lay 20 drivers off." This afternoon.

If you can afford to wait, it's okay. But many can't.

I'm seeing GTI trucks locally now. Something I have never seen. They just don't come here (MS). So it's likely they are struggling along with 100's of other companies.

Wait as long as you dare, then move on to the next one.

Take whatever job you can find, buddy. It sounds like you have an avenue to get on at CRST for free, take it. Don't be too proud to work for Swift either. Bottom line is this, you are going to be working for peanuts your first year no matter who you you sign on with, and that statement was true even when times were good. If someone offers you a job, take it. The industry is being cruel right now, even to the experienced drivers out there that are finding themselves laid off because their trucking company went belly up.
