considering you are already grinding try this.

when you shift remember you are in a truck so the shifting is slow and almost a rhythm. It is not a drag race.

What you are trying to find is sound, a vibration.

The motor is singing to you as it revs up.

Think of each shift as a breath the motor takes.

Find the point where the breath is ready to inhale.

    that is your shift point.

I don't do (telling) how to do this well. I rather get behind the wheel and show it to a green driver then change seats and let you do it. However you should have a working tach. Learn to use it and LISTEN to the engine. Do it long enough and you will learn to do it.

Clutch or no clutch. you should have gotten it by now. h uman nature is to figure things out if subjected to them long enough. you should know your truck after 40 hours. if not and you in same truck and still havent adapted to the truck, trucking isnt your thing. Its either in your blood or it isnt. I have seen truckers that hat have been trucking for several years and still grinding and scratching. they will never get it after that time but still do it. why,? who knows, they arent paying the bill for damages. human nature is to figure things out , its all about learning.. if it doesnt happen it wassnt meant to be. Some people want o play football, but if they cant get it right, they drop out or get rejected. its a way of life. Not saying you should quit. If you like what you are doing and nobody is #####ing about transmission repairs than by all means keeep on trucking brotha

It could be that transmission has wider diffetences between the gears as you advance through the gears. What works for 6 to 7, needs to be different for 9 to 10. Some 10 speeds have pretty wide ratio change from 9 to 10.

When you shift from 8th to 9th, isn't your RPM already at 1500 in 8th?
When you shift to 9th you should be coming into 9th at around 1100 RPM.

Engine speed falls to go into the next higher gear, right?
If you are keeping the RPM at 1500 to upshift, you will certainly tear up some gears.

10 speeds are a pain in the ###. They're just not smooth transmissions until they're so worn down it's time to replace them. Hop in an 18 speed and that isn't a problem. You can make it smoother tho by being more sensitive with the throttle. Grinding means the gears are out of sync and you're pushing too hard. Be gentle, and match rpms.
