I understand that, but shouldn't the company who ordered 300 cases of shrimp already have people lined up to unload it when you arrive? That's the part that's confusing me, because if the customer is ordering something it should 100% their responsibility and liability to unload it. You're just fulfilling your agreement to have it there on time and the carrier is fulling their agreement to have it hauled for X-Amount of dollars.
Seems like an unnecessary hassle to deal with lumpers as a carrier or driver,
Why do lumpers exist?

That's why i'll never lump for the company unless they paid what lumpers charge.

To stay fresh, so I can eat them later.

Cuz if they lived in tree's the monkeys would spit pee at them?

I made pallets before for Coke and we were paid I think 10 cents per case or something like that.

Several of us guys thought we could get away with lumping our loads for the $150. We even used "lumper forms" but we were told, "don't do that, we know it's YOU". ( the warehouse for the cigs, ratted us out)

A lot of times somewhere in the load info you'll find it says its a lumper load or something along those lines.Thats when you call your dispatcher or broker and ask how much and get a po number.

Okay, but why is that your problem, I guess is my question? The shipper/receiver need to work that out and payout whatever costs for the load need to be palletized. Your hands should be washed of the matter, you're just fulfilling your obligation of picking it up or dropping it off.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

What if you don't pay the lumper out of pocket? I would be leery about getting paid back and it's not really my business how it gets loaded or unloaded, IMO
