Lets do a little local living math, answer these questions, i will put mine in first

    1. Average starting wage for a diploma holding 19 year old, (12 bucks a hour, 40 hours a week, no vacation.)

    2. Average price of a decent 1 bedroom
apt. Not in the ghetto. (800-1000 a month)

    3. Imsurance. (Minimum of 200 a month)

    4. Phone/internet (50-100)

    5. Utilitys gas water excc.. (50-100 assuming apt is covering part)

    6. Food (minimum of 200 a month)

So with a monthly net of around 15 to 16 hundred dollars, your already at 300 or less after ultra basic needs... oh yeah you can get ahead, get a education, get a car, better yourself excc... mind you i didnt bother putting in cost of cars, car insurance, cable, subscription services like netflix, entertainment budget for movies or dinner out with friends/family, cloths, bus fare, and on and on

I can knock 750 of that housing cost. It's called a ####ty little apartment with a room mate in a less than ideal neighborhood. Split the water and electric bill and there is another hundred a month.

Don't need Internet as a single person with no kids, every public library has computers with Internet access. Rice and beans and ramon noodles and food becomes twenty bucks a week. Its called sacrifice and living on a shoe string budget. Just like your parents and grandparents did.

I have no problem with working, i do it everyday. But to claim everyone is lazy except you is just egotistical. All hail the mighty pincher of pennys. The one who lives by not living. Who will brave gun fire to save 200 dollars a month, who will eat worse than prisoners in jail to save 100 dollars a month.. ya know i think its been so long since you actualy had to worry about stuff that you dont realize how out of date you are.... :) answer my math questions for your area. I know my area, my oldest is 18. What does it cost? Come on... pleaaaaassseeeed

I didn't say you were lazy. I said your attitude about how our parents generation had it easier sucks.

But ya, we lived like miserable misers then, so we could live good now. I couldn't tell ya what it cost for an 18 yr old in my area. I'm not 18. But my daughter will be finding out this summer.

I know you didnt call me lazy, and i know how my parents generation did it. They went out of there way, to the end of the budget and beyond to ensure us kids lived in a safe area, had more than 2 choices of food, had entertainment excc... all things you would sugest be sacrifised. My point is what good is living like #### gonna do you? Im not advocating credit or living above means, but even in our little example, lets say you manage 500 bucks a month, what are you going to do with it? Cant move to a better area, just gonna eat your saving, cant go tp college on that, not enough time or money, shouldnt buy nice things, you dont promote having anything nice in the ghettos aroumd here.... my mom and dad were raised by depression parents/grandparents, didnt have #### growing up, in there 20's they didnt live the way you claim is nessary to get ahead. Its a much different world. Like i have said before, i used to care for 3 people on half of what i make alone, now it takes 2 full time working parents. How is it not obvious to you that 20 30 40 years ago it only took one income to maintain a family and now it take 2 plus education? And its not about the extras, cuz back then we had extras, and only one bread winner, and no credit cards excc... different world. Not harder, not easier, just different. And that alone is why i rebut the "sacrafice" and there just being wastefull" meantality.

Ever heard the saying "you may not like what i'm saying but at least i speak the truth" all those costs you've mentioned are valid however what some of us that have survived the industry did is lived in our trucks so all those costs don't exist except for food and clothing and perhaps a cell phone. Oh ever heard the other saying "If you can't handle the heat in the kitchen get out"

Hehe yeah but were not talking about living out of a truck now are we? We are talking about what constitutes a valid sacrafice and to what gain. If you read back you will see the talk about living in a crap area, no need for car excc... if you are saying that getting free job training, the use of a truck, insurance, load bord service, free fuel, free showers excc.. is a sacrafice? Thats funny right there. And what kitchen exactly?

Umm. You seriously don't see how saving 500 a month can do any good? That's a down payment on a house in 5 years. Or after 1 year is enough to live on while you go to school at a state school under a low interest student loan. Yes some schools are extremely expensive, however state schools, where you qualify for instate tuition rates, are not that terribly bad. Get what grants you can, and a student loan for the rest. Get a real degree, and in four years you have a real job paying a decent income.

There are those who find a way, and then there are those who whine it can't be done.

But that goes against your logic. What good is a down payment on a house you cant afford thw monthlys? Remember you have a roommate covering half of #### world rent and halfcof cheap ### apt utility bills. Just a real mortage and real utilities are gonna be more than 500 more a month than your already paying... after a year enough to live on while going to school? Low intrest or not, you want to go from living like ####, in #### on 12 thousand a year to living on half that? And go to school? Not to mention the cost of moving close to school, (still no car) and all this is assuming you can even get a cheap loan....
