And do some research. The vast majority of 4 year school grads, 1 dont make half of what they were told they could, 2 have more debt and worse crdit then most dead beats, and 3 most dont even work in the field they trained for.

Its been my experience in my years on the road most of the lies I have heard have come from drivers. Every recruiter I have ever spoken to has told me the truth. Most of the time when I hear a story about a recruiter telling lies it is in the what kind of miles can I expect to get subject. I think most of the time a recruiter says one thing and the person hears another. I spent 5 years in the Air Force. One thing I got tired of hearing even as a 17 year old basic trainee was my recruiter told me a pack of lies. Trucking is not an easy job. Anybody that says it is is daft. Sometimes people don't ask proper questions and get a wrong impression going in. I'm getting out of this now. I just hope the new drivers and prospective drivers will listen to my words.

Yes. I'm not saying it is literally every baby boomers fault. But their way of living and greed as a whole generation, along with the rest of the world competing with the US more, has caused generations after them hardships. You're right. It's an undisputed fact that wages aren't anywhere near c.o.l. today. And like I said before you can't physically work enough hours in a week to pay for even cheap colleges today where in the past you could off of a 20-30hr part time job. Then when you finally get your degree you struggle to find work in your field and are forced to take a lower paying job than what you were promised. Don't forget today kids have professionals from schools telling them "guaranteed job placement* and $100,000 a year+$ then they get out of school and are slapped in the face by the brutal job market today. I've had many older people tell me that when they were growing up you could literally walk down a street and find a job. But the real issue is that America now has competition. After ww2 we were about the only country able to produce. Now everyone has rebuilt and some have surpassed us in some industries. In conclusion I realize baby boomers were just looking out for themselves but nothing pisses me off more than someone acting like the younger generation is lazy. No. They just are jaded from all of the bs they've been feed their whole life and aren't listening anymore. So stop saying " kids are lazy." I'm sure the generation before you said the same thing about you.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Baby boomers also don't realize how hard it is to get a job out of school. They're looking at a job market where they're bringing 5-25 years of experience and people fresh out of high school have little to none. During the recession it was impossible to get a job when no one was retiring and the rest were applying to the same jobs. Who do you think a company will choose? Someone with no experience or some one with 10 years? Then they have the audacity to talk about how lazy kids are today.

Well, you can blame the boomers for creating a bunch of soft whiny victims.

Every generation has had and will have those who succeed and those who don't. Only you can decide which category you fall into.

I said a real degree. By that i meant one that is marketable. People are majoring in some language that's been extinct for 5k years or some similar ridiculous thing and then complain they can't get a job.

I'm sorry, but I call ########. Who cares what the "average job" is? My parents were broke arse farmers, so I worked as a bouncer in a resort town summers and weekends. Finished cleaning up the bar at 3 am on Sunday, and in class two hours away at 8 am. We did what we had to do. I came to thing country with two suitcases at age 22, finished college and graduate school. Not a pot to piss in, just worked to pay the bills. Crappy appartment no life, 6,000 miles from family. I paid a price to win.

Started my first business at age 25, 25 years ago. Now, own a farm, a trucking company, and helping my kids with college expenses, but my son refuses any help beyond a job. He just got an offer from a local manufacturing business to pay for his engineering degree (IN FULL), if he goes to work for them for five years after. He turned them down, because he can get the same job at twice the pay if he puts himself through school. No, he's not taking the easy road, but he's looking at 80 K starting salary after getting his industrial engineering degree. Yeah, that's a "pre-hire".

Yeah, he has a room mate in a crappy apartment, yeah, he drives a little 15 year old two wheel drive pickup. Doesn't have time for dates or vacations. Works every weekend on the farm, snow or shine. He's paying a price now so he can live very well later.

The times are changing, and opportunities may be changing, but it still takes a will and a sacrifice to get there. Always has. And the majority will always be unwilling to make the sacrifice.
