when i went to a school as a recruiter a student said if he couldn't make $1500/week to start he was staying home

"Training pay" kept me away from a lot of them. You're a fraud to walk into a classroom and quote people O/O pay instead of company truck pay. They also neglect to mention your 6-8 weeks of "training pay" is $250/week (before taxes). That's bunk if you're single and quintupley so if you're married and trying to send money home.
How do recruiters even make any money if drivers constantly quit over lies and omissions?
Junk equipment is another reason. If you're being paid by the mile, you're not making any money sitting around in shop after shop. Getting a truck with A/C that doesn't work and a DM who just loooooves to send you to Laredo, Nashville and Atlanta is fabulous. That's a level of sweaty you just can't shake.
Being forced to team with disgusting dirty animals, child rapists and senile nasty old bats would be another. It's not sleep-away camp. If you have to team, do it with your brother, sister or spouse. Don't do it with someone you meet on the last day of orientation. Don't do it with someone you only know over the phone or online.Last edited: Feb 8, 2016

MA. Closest school is NETTTS. 11k if you take financial aid. When you ask about the 5k program they wont give you any info about private lenders,.

I agree.
The whole goal is put butts in the seats. Sink or swim. I sold cars for 5 years and it was that way with most newbies. Some got it, some did not.
I got out because I was tired of being screwed by the managers and owners. Chasing money every week, commissions not what was quoted, etc.clubberLang and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
I don't think recruiters lie any more then drivers do. I don't think a recruiter even holds a candle to a driver when it comes to telling or repeating untruths or myths. In fact over the years I have seen so many disgruntled drivers sitting in truck stops and terminals railing on about how bad their carriers are and how they are out to get drivers I get to the point I just switch off and stop listening to them. I will say this to anybody even my best friend. Trucking is for the most part what you make of it. If you run hard and follow the rules you will in most cases do OK. You greenhorn drivers and prospective drivers listen up. When you hear a drivers tale of woe you are only hearing one side. Don't fall for that crap and then make a bad decision later.Snow Hater, G/MAN, Diesel997 and 5 others Thank this.
