So who said most owner ops fail?I imagine many are out here. Some just quit due to high fuel prices and all the laws. They can't make any money.

Hence the problem of O/O fail. Not knowing their equipment, getting in over their heads and no business plan. Retired after 38 yrs of sucess as an O/O. Did I drive illegal you bet I did. Did I drive outlaw style ahhhhh yup. Were my trucks always shiny and flashy heck yeah but I learned that if you dont treat it as a business you will fail and fail fast plain straight fact. It takes alot to be a true sucessful O/O and hard work is the key. U have to ask yourself do I really need that new fancy radio or those chicken lights and so on. Hauling cheap freight at time to get u in a better area is a choice we all have to make but its better than sitting or deadheading an out of pocket expense that today can be costly. New laws and to much government are hurting the industry for the O/O just starting out and to the Vets out here.. And those fleese purchase plans are just that a fleese. Failure is only by the, person not the truck. Be safe,im just, dust in the wind these days.....RW
dairyman, montana cowboy, Mommas_money_maker and 2 others Thank this. -
To Snowy.
I guess it is time you sell your truck and by one that can save you close to a grand a week. That could be put away for a college education for one of your children.
As for roadwarrior. You are quite right, in that it is not an easy time to start as an owner op, the regulations are brutal especially for ones that cross the national borders. Times are still hard and it looks like they will be even harder soon.
The good old days are gone where tolerance and understanding by regulatory bodies were common.TheRoadWarrior Thanks this. -
