I'd say many dont know what to expect. Its the stress of driving, being away from home, bad trainer. Many are just home sick.

They should join the navy instead. There, they will either go to Pearl Harbor Hawaii or Naples Italy to serve out all their time. That would be fantastic!

Im local and id say that the majority of our new drivers quit because they cant handle the stress of driving in downtown city environments with a ton of stops, every day

Well I will give you an answer false expectations these guys go out on the road with the false premiss that is going to be freedom and fun And the reallity is its a lot of work there is a lot of stress and in general there is little freedom this day in age when everyone is watching you and also that some dont realize what is like to be away from there life (family) until they actually do it I personally think there is nothing fun about being in a truck for a month eating crap out of truck stops feeling like garbage and doing nothing but running constant loads with no home time to actually spend your money but thats why they call it a job and some cant hack the reallity

Thank you for showing an interest but I would put it in another year with your company before endorsing them to the world.

When I first started it wasn't because of not being home,I don't think I ever got homesick. But I did get lonely and got a pet which helped tremendously through my tough times.Had I quit it would have probably been because of tired of getting lost and taking the wrong exits,my dispatcher kept sending me to every new drivers worst nightmare cities. That was one long first month before hometime.People here are giving reasons why new drivers quit, what would be your reason had you didn't succeed?

My reason would have been Pilot/FlyingJ selling egg rolls and not having any sweet & sour sauce.
