I've been a trucker, going on 19 years, off and on, I've just recently had to start looking for a new driving position, but the O/O I was employed by, apparently hasn't been very truthful with me for 3 years, he isn't even listed as an O/O, he paid me cash or with a personal check, and won't even offer the other companies I've applied to information on my driving for him, I've never had any accidents, no tickets, no violations of any kind. The companies I worked for prior him are dead and gone, most before the CDL came to be. Just befor working for my last O/O? I was in the computer field, making CDs, videos, and theings like that for 5 fives. NOW, I have no recent experience I can prove to other companies, and I have no idea what I'm going to do, seems kind of dumb to go back to school to learn how to do what I already know how to do. Any suggestions? anybody need an excellant driver, like me?

Look for smaller companies, and relate your experience to them; keep looking until you get some to listen. From my experience, you are insurable with the right company and that is what drives the hiring. You pass the road test and you are a company driver for the right company that needs a good driver

As for your other question, I'm not sure if working like that was entirely legal for either you or the O/O, so maybe by not acknowledging you, he feels less likely to be punished for it, and since you have no W-2s and only 1099s, he can deny ever having employed you, he hired your services according to him and not as a driver for his company.

Sounds to me like your options are go to school and start over or keep digging on this guy and explain to the IRS why you was paid cash... for 3 years $$$$$$$$$$:biggrin_2554:

Did you pay taxes and FICA on the money he paid you? If so a little phone call to him threatening to go to the IRS with your records might change his tune. If not and both of you are illegal then you deserve each other and use the money you saved in taxes to pay the truck driving school..

    Original question answered..........

Because he is most likely only an operator, will never OWN anything !!!!!!!

He can't afford to run it proper and legal.........

CSA 2010 is designed just for his type............

now first of all, all owner operators do not work like that, of course some do just like there are good drivers and bad drivers but the bad stans out more.

and these no it alls that are preaching tell the irs and on and on are just a bunch of newbies that have no idea what there talking about therew jus a new truck drive most fresh out of school now you no they no a lot.

now i no what your going thrue is not a good thing but while going thrue it taking bad advice from a new driver will only make it worse and it certainly wont make matters any better.

all you can do really is get another job and start over and as likely as not you will have to go with an owner oprator and as far as your log book is concearned that wont help you with epeirence most wont even look at it , thats one of the reasons they call it a funny book its worthless.

as far as getting money owed you well all you can do is file a suit against him in small claims , good luck with that since he is always on the road when the court date comes do he will be on the road.

its a bad situation i no but dont judge all by one and to try and listen to a truck driving lawyer is a fools game it will only make things worse and there are a millio of those out there today.

but your by no means the only one this has happened to and you wont be the last i can assure you.

really the only thing you can do is find a better owner operator to work for there by no means not all bad but a truck driver giving you advice that is a truck driving shool graduate is about like standing in front of a train not a good thing.

good luck to you my friend hope it works out the way you want it .
