Anymore, half of them are already coming over before I would have signaled them that it was safe.

Kind of like the idiots that high beam you like they're doing you a favor to get over after passing?

The passing truck used to throw their four ways on as a thank you when the truck getting overtaken turned off his headlights to make it a little easier to the passing truck to return to the right lane.

Those days are long gone though. Just like the society they came from.

Well here's my take. I've been out here driving a cmv since about 78 or 79 I think, How I choose to operate reflects on me and the man whom trained me many years ago (My Dad). So I will continue to operate the truck I drive in a professional manor, being polite as situations allow, not because I care so much about the "New Drivers" , but because I care about the tradition I believe we represent.
How are they to learn if we do not teach them.

Amen, driver. I always signaled a passing truck, if the schmoe didn't respond, I knew I did what was right.

The high beam flash to pass thing didn’t really start until the in flux of foreign drivers since 2011. Flash to pass is a europe thing. Keeping up with the auto makers wanting to be more like europe, All cars sold in the u.s. now have the “flash to pass” feature on the head light/turn signal stalk. Lazy is as lazy does and its easier to pull that then turn the lights completely off. Than most crapcadia’s and vulvas have drl’s so turning headlights off while truck is running is impossible anyway.

Theres been a problem with drivers using the high beams when you pass since the 90's anyway, maybe longer. Do nothing is prefered to the highbeam.

    Cattleman84 and classic_150 Thank this.
