I idle because I can. Everything in the world is good as long as this thing is running, I can sleep soundly. As far as wearing things out?????? So, it will cause an inframe a thousand miles sooner, so effin what? I've planned for that downtime anyway.

I've gotten better about needles,.. I dont black out over them anymore,.. but I do get queezy right before they stick me.

Nothing I can do about the heights. I'm ok walking on my upper deck,.. much higher and me knees get weak. I still climb on taller loads occasionally to tarp them. Money over rules fear.. not much I wouldnt do for the right money. (Remember those conversations as a kid?)

I had a medium height load,.. maybe 4ft on top of my deck. It covered my upper deck.. I keep my 4x4's at the front of my upper deck and I was trying to climb down off the tarps to my dunnage and my foot slipped,.. I went tumbling down onto my catwalk,.. busted a service line for the trailer and continued down to the ground below. Flailing,.. arms swinging,.. grabbing at empty air,.. anything trying to avoid the inevitable. Not a pretty sight.

In a few hours he's going to wake up cold and shivering. :p

    Edit:

Either that or the unmuffled diesel chainsaw thats hiding in that tin box on the other side will be starting and stopping all night,

Even states with idling laws have trouble enforcing them. Few years back trucker went to court over a ticket for idling. Told the judge flat out,.. thats my home. When its hot I turn on my AC, when its cold I need heat. The only way to do that is to idle the truck. Judge dismissed the case.

You're younger than me, man ... much! So I'm not the only one that slipped off my own load into my "not so glad" hands? That was not a fun one to call in to the company!
(At least I stayed on the catwalk. Barely..) I'm still chuckling at how we both must have looked. . . ah ~ live and learn!
Those kiddo conversations, yes I remember; more risk, more money. Kinda like the old game, RISK!

Still kinda the case to a point; yet the risks get skimpier on my side, as time goes on, LoL! I'll keep my dime over your quarter, lest I break a bone, LoL!

  11. We enjoy quiet nights also, thus the back row far away from the megas who idle, apu, regen, thermos ect. After so many years you seek other that are like you.
