Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

one thing which is unclear to me on us truckers

they dont like our small cabs

but they love low long chassis trucks ( mainly pete) with short cab like this

 

looks nice---but still wouldnt want to work with it

 

even when all the manafacturers were still in usa --or canada--kw had what i would consider the highestquality of work--the fit and finish is way above any other truck---the fuse box--ok not one of their best ideas--ok and the heater box--but the rest is outstanding

 

it looks also nice to me,everything except rear fenders

have you or anyone else ever been in such cab it looks really low inside and windshield is too small for normal safety.

what do you /and other members think about custom sleepers

to me they looks ridiculous especially if side of them go below chassis and if they are too high , lower versions looks good and if it is not too long but in this case it is not too bigger than normal sleeper

and i wonder why there is no conversions based on factory sleepers ( extending)

also i found out that trucks with them are too heavy and they are expensive

also i think it would be possible with good engineering to place everything necessary from them to standard us truck cabs

i dont know why somebody need fireplace or similar

 

I agree....Those are the ugliest fenders ever designed for a truck.

How much windshield do you need? As long as you can see out of the truck and all around the truck....That's all you need.

I like some of them...Lots'a living space.

There are...

Some are heavier than others...But some trucks are set up to haul light loads all the time and a little extra weight isn't a problem.

It can be done...But who wants to cram all that stuff into such a small space?
I've seen the euro trucks with all of that stuff crammed into them and they all have two things in common....They're small and cramped!
I like to have room to move and in this country we are not limited by the poorly laid out roads and cities that have not been improved in centuries.

not only ugliest but non practical at all ( i mean in case you need to put chains or in case if tire explode

for my work lot larger than this one , here visibility is important thing( so big areas , good mirrors , but also cab profiles(between windshield and doors) need to be carefully made to avoid dead angles..

also with so low siting position you cant see much in front of your hood or around it

i found out lightest spec truck is about 20600lbs average 26000lbs

no i think to place toilet and shower instead of wardrobe and as opposed to place small kitchen (just 2ftx2ft ) with pull out sink microwave, larger fridge , cooking table and maybe pull out work surface ( when you need to prepare food)

so you can leave rear dinnet/bunks on their own position

so almost everything stay at its location except of wardrobe ( i think it is unnecessary to have hanging clothes it waste lot of space) still enough space inside

 

and i would really not like to go with them anywhere off road and especially not here

 

not sure i would want to take one of those flat faced homely looking scania trucks i n there as well

kinda comparing different things---call me stupid but i really dont think that pete will see a gravel road or lot let alone a mud hole

 

Those aren't fenders.
They are dog kennels that have had the entrance widened out and a custom spray job added..

 

this is mercedes , here scania is not very spread as construction truck
i had about 44000lbs on this axle , i go in such place every day(when i delivering construction material and collecting construction waste/soil)
but my main problem is truck is only 4x2 and while i am empty and off road since crane is just behind cab front axle is too heavy and i usually dont have enough traction, thats why i would like to have 4x4

i am also sure that it will never go off road but why to use ugly fenders which very limits your possibilities and can be problematic if you need chains

even this my truck is not designed for such terrains but i have to use it sometimes
