The US law is also really easy to comply with. All standard 5 axle tractor trailer configurations are built to comply with the axle bridge distance for 80k. Shorter trailers such as tanks are exempt from the minimum axle distance as long as the combo unit had 5 ales. The only time it gets tricky is when you start looking at over legal gross (80 thousand pound) loads.

If you would have cared to read the Heavy Truck Weight and Dimension Limits for Interprovincial Operations in Canada which link I posted, you could have read:
    1. tractors have no minimum wheelbase, just a maximum of 6.2 m (20.5 feet)
    2. trailers must have a wheelbase ranging from 6.25 m to 12.5 m (20.5 feet to 41 feet)
These values are completely independent of the loads on tractor and trailer. The maximum weight of such a semi can be 102,500 lbs. There are some simple axle spacing requirements, but basically you can build quite a short semi and still use it with the maximum load. That is very different from the bridge law formula.

The same applies to all other examples others posted. Yes, there are some regulations, but none of those examples come close to bridge law formula and the extreme minimum length of tractors and trailers it causes.

I would say not ssasyo easy , otherwise you will not need 7axles axles for 80000 dump truck, that funny small pusher axles and really funny trailing axle.

Yes, once you have calculated the length of a tractor and a trailer, you can build a complying semi. But if you want to build your tractor 6 feet shorter, and your trailer 10 feet shorter, to get better manoeuvrability, or just because you don't need them to be so long, you can't do that. You can do that in all other countries that were mentioned. That's the problem with that bridge formula. A relatively short 80,000 lbs Canadian semi can not cross the border to the US, just to give you an example.

The sage learns more from a stupid question than the fool from a sensible answer.
