things I hate in cabovers: climb in cabin, tilt cabin, work on engine under cabine

About safety, as I can see conventional trucks in USA got not so tought cab as European cabovers.

The only reason why Europeans build cabovers: bumper to bumper lenth limit. Really not so many EU conventionals I see, of course it is Scania T-series (discontinued), MB Zetros and European versions of Australian Iveco.

Maybe. If Germany were as close to US as to Harvatia, maybe. As for the rest I dont think any modern euro cabover is more comfortable as 20yo junk FLD. :)

Europe is small, tight place. There are plenty of space in US. But most eastern states were built with "tightness" in mind.

Some are getting confused here, if u r a trucker driving in Houston ,TX u r not automatically an astronaut, same thing apply for any other trucker think he is more sophisticated cuz he live in some area.

Business's practice basically are the same, big fleet want 5 years or so out of the truck , while small business want to run it forever if possible

now which truck will use is the question on this forum...

There is no well-defined solution. Next time Ill give a chance to Kenworth, who knows. ;)

The fact is modern euro coes ride smoother than any conventional, they can't ride as smooth as long as they're still bolting the cab to the chassis at two points.

If you put same jelly/renault-magnum-style cab suspension to any conventional it would be always smoother. Any design, where driver is under or ahead of steering axle is not smooth enough.

Kinda true, I've had a euro conventional before with 4 point cab suspension and it is sublime however a long wheelbase Coe is almost as smooth, euro trucks have long front springs which help a lot too, I've driven kenworth , Pete, western star and a us volvo and the euro designs ride better than any of them, true early 4 point designs on renaults were wobbly but in the last 25 years they have managed to vastly improve them, take scanias design, big wide airbags and shocks are fitted high and wide almost up under the windscreen at both sides, the rear cab suspension has short travel, this almost eliminates cab roll while keeping the ride silky smooth and vibration free....far smoother than any US conventional I've driven so far so I don't know how you think that's "not smooth enough"
Comfort sells trucks in Europe .

i actually prefer the conventional design, I wish we could run them in Europe , I like having a hood but I'd still buy a euro Coe over any US truck that's on offer today, the emissions crap is too troublesome on them , build quality isn't there yet, either is fuel consumption figures, that said Europe makes loads of crap too, DAF, iveco and Renault spring to mind
