When doing export they will collect an empty take to place to pack container then deliver to the terminal at the port 600km away.
On an import collect container at terminal that came as sea freight import then take +-600km to customer to unpack then deliver empty to depot with in about 50km.
Total 1200km empty container collection and empty container delivery + container unpack and container pack all for about Euro 1200-00.
Some even less and some a bit more but around this price.

In DR Congo and Angola we drive on the right as well.
    Depends on make , between US$ 30k and 60k.
Mainly COE because of length law and 7,7t to 8t front axle loading allowed. Freightliner Columbia is still quite popular and International/Navistar also offer conventional's.
Yes , but mostly a mixture of assembly with a varying % of local content.Mercedes , Man ,Volvo , Renault , DAF , Iveco,Western Star ,Freightliner, International , Donfeng ,Foton, Nissan,Hino,Isuzu,Fuso and probably a few more. There is no other country in the world with such a small market with as much choice of cars and trucks. Reason with cars is that the margins the manufactures make here is high compared to other areas due to political issues of the past.[/QUOTE]

You couldn't give that truck to for free.
    2° axle is a non-steered pusher.
Combine it with the short wheelbase it has and you have a truck that only wants to drive in a straight line when loaded.
It has terrible tirewear also, with the pusher down.
Cheap version off what could have been a nice truck.

this configuration is cheap to buy, small cab and lift axle in the wrong place but a comfortable, simple, reliable, fuel efficient and well made truck, the US version is not built to the same quality. Also they have a good strong cab in a crash

hey, cool American truckers! U can and u visit Europe sometimes, just ask and EU trucker to let u try EU truck. U'll be surprized how well some trucks ride!

I understand that that EU and US trucks share powertaine, but EU cabins are small but sweet, silent and comfartable. The only disadvantage of EU cab is that Europeans have to use cabovers only.

I have Volvo FH cabover and it shares all interior with VN and the same engine (D12). Cabin is roomly enought but sleeper is small, aniway bunk is good, but not so many room for things as in VN.

are you sure it is fixed, do you know truck personally or you guess from picture, front axle is little bit on left and i think this is too low angle to notice if 2nd axle move,

i ask that because i think volvo offers only steer axle , at least here

    that is xl

i never understand why this non steer lead axle,if length of truck is not problem it should be tag

here most of new man have them i think they dont even offer tag version mercedes now offer

before 25 and more years we were buying 6x2 or 6x4 , now like people forget about tag, even local truck factory used to make mercedes 22xx tractor with tag axle, while german was only 20xx with twin steer

generally most people who buy 6x2 tractors pull container or light heavy haulage, in both of this length can be a problem

some people use normal container trailers that in some situation can hit lights with legs,

those with lowloaders often needs short tractors , because they sometimes use non iso-1726 trailers ( turning radius smaller than 2.3m) they are often 2.1m

generally it is problem with this kind of tractors for low loaders, to get good balance of axle distance and other dimmensions

-to get 7.5+7.5+11.5 for german stvzo70 law,
-to keep max 4.5m from bumper to 5th wheel
    -and 2.1m for trailer clearance

it is very difficult to cover all those, some people put aftermarket mudguards to save space and move tailights more inside

with volvo you often have problem with too close trailer to cab, so when they move 5th wheel back they are not legal in length, than you also lose weight from front axle

i think mercedes have now best for all 3 things , before they had too short wheelbase

this is good example of what i am talking ,

this scania have 4000mm "british" wheelbase (between axles 1255mm) instead of "standard" 4050mm wheelbase (1305mm between axles) ,

with 4000mm wheelbase, 5th wheel is 960mm from drive axle (instead of 1010 with wb4050), this allows you to use r=2100mm trailer , keep legal length but

with 4000mm wb ( common in UK IR and italy) you are allowed to have only 16t on rear axles instead of 19t normal(when axle spacing is 1300+mm), i dont know if they manage to fake vehicle data to show 19t

but this might be a problem ,

98989,lets say i know 1000% for shure that this Volvo is a non steer pusher.
Volvo promotes (they actually do everything to discourage you from buying a steered pusher) this setup.
    Paccar has a better attitude,they simple don't make a non steered pusher,all are steered.:biggrin_25514:

It is quite contradictory with volvo efforts to create safe trucks
