WHY DO the HAMS always take over cb posts ?

You would, indeed, be wise in removing a "10 Meter" radio. I know of drivers who DID get fired because they got caught talking on 10 Meters. UPS and FedEx have policies in place against having them or using them without the license. Do your fellow drivers a favor and TELL them that the "old days" have ended and FCC IS back in town! Ya can't blame the licensed users for being upset about drivers filching on 28 MHZ!:smt105 And I DO hear that FCC is working on getting a lot MORE random checks done and BANNING "10 Meter" radios in commercial trucks! AND!! They are now aware of drivers doing what they call "going to the 'low' side" on 26 MHZ!:smt115 That old Fox Candy Company has awakened and are watching!

Ive always stayed in the 11m band, but I know, its a dirty box no matter what. Ill be looking to get a tamer box and a ticket, and go ham soon as I can.

 

A lot of guys are running regular cb's and doing this also...it isn't always a ham radio...

As for the reason to have that much power...I have been to quite a few desolate places in the continental US that don't have cell coverage and houses are far and few between...it's nice to have the extra ummmph to get out and actually talk to someone...

Hams took over? Actually, I asked that this section be started so that I could answer questions you may have had about CB Radios and Ham radio also. I answer these questions as honestly as I can, and try not to let my opinion sway my answers.........

So you see, no Hams took over......Thankfully we now have more Hams to answer your questions for you.......and to correct me when I am wrong.

As to the tuned vs. untuned radio statement you made......nobody said that. I do recall saying a stock radio will outperform a tuned radio when you are using an efficient antenna with some gain............

As a Ham, I hate to admit this but sometimes I would love to have a 5000 watt amp and a 6Db gain antenna for my CB. That way when some idiot super-trucker wanna be steering wheel holder with a big radio starts doing stupid @$#@ I could pull up next to them and fry their radio. :smt077

KC ( welcome Back ) BTW , Now do you believe a 4 watt CB modulating to 25% will "out-talk" a 4 watt CB "legally modulating " to 100% ?? THIS IS MY POINT . I have purchased new radios that were only modding to 25 % and they were much better after having them adjusted and they were still legal. There are also some receiving modifications that are beneficial to reduce noise , etc. only my opinion BSAW

 

Maybe we all need a JOGUNN antenna ....the ones with the audio gain claims LOL heee hee I can dry my clothes on one of those things !

 

Now I see what you are saying.........I was assuming the "Stock" radio to be 4Watts @ 100% Mod and legal with all limiters intact..........A tune up involing a clipped AMC allows well over 100% Mod and that was my point. Most of these drivers are running well over 100% and think because somebodies meter reads 50W that they are king of the truckstop...........

If I bought a new CB and it had any less then 90% Modulation out of the box I'd be upset.

Can we agree that there is very little difference performance wise between a legal output radio and one that has been peaked?
