Watching that video should convince anyone the value of having instant, local communication while doing the most dangerous thing we do on a daily basis, driving.
Only a CB can provide the kind of information that could have prevented that tragedy in the video, short of shutting down the highway completely.
Too bad everyone doesn't have a CB and actually monitor "19". It can make a big difference.clausland, darthanubis, Link407 and 2 others Thank this. -
It wasn't always like it is today. There was a time when we all lived by the radio.
clausland, rabbiporkchop and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Im with you OP...these CB guys are ridiculous...
The more they spend, the crappier they sound!! Especially the rest of us with a non modified crappy cb speaker...
OMG cb's gotta go digital....download the cb app on your smartphones and lets have a nice conversation, all clear sounding, no annoying midrange squeal...its so nice, you set the range..from 500 feet to global..
I have to use one for certain drop locations, once thats done, i have to make sure i shut it off before i get near a freeway!!!
kids scratching nails on a board!!! while others kick you in the grapes
throw away your cb's, please!! we are 2016 now boys, this archaic vacum tube transistor resistor vintage technology is annoying and painfull to the ear...
CB companies: give up!!! Get your digital units out first and keep all your people working!!, succumb before you become non compatible with human ears!!rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Really ? Are you for reals ?.lol......NOT !!!!!! Thank you but I will keep it "old school". I bet you drive an " automatic" transmission truck too......I believe I'm getting grouchy with age........lol......no harm intended.Last edited: Jan 1, 2016

It seems most drivers nowadays are pretty gullible and believe anything a shop owner tells them.
EZ Money and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Mines always on 19 tuned. I love having it, when there is a accident or traffic I awlays get help getting around it on other roads. Crucial piece of equipment has helped me out many timesj_martell, darthanubis and poppapump1332 Thank this.

Not sure about how digital would work. With the AM analog signals weak and distant stations can still be heard among the more powerful stations so some one needing assistance or issuing a warning has a chance. With FM the strongest station fully captures the frequency. Up until a few years ago aircraft were still using the AM mode because of the ability to hear more than one station in case of distress calls. Not sure if this is still the norm.

So you upgraded your receive and say anybody that upgrades their wattage is wasting their time?
-
I have a receive mod on mine and its night and day difference and upped my wattage. I have people asking me what I'm running all the time and have said they've never heard a radio so clean and that's barefoot or with the rfx 150 on. I will do this to any radio I own just sent my other one off for it.
burnsey Thanks this.
