i use google maps on my phone. it works pretty fast for giving me roads around me
the atlas only works for getting you there. it has NO ability once you get to town.
why do we have these GPS's?????

GPS should be used for the maps, not directions. Nothing beats a call to the shipper/consignee as to how to get into a place.
Mommas_money_maker and tinytim Thank this. -
you have to be smarter then the GPS to use it....I've logged over 200,000 miles on my Rand McNally, running LTL every where from Big Citys to little 20 people towns in BFE all over the country and flatbed freight all over the US even to construction prodjects whos address wouldnt even come up on google maps and my GPS has NEVER lead me wrong.......
American TruckerPoints South and Dieselboss Thank this. -
It's good for trip planning. A lot of Navigation tools have where truck stops, rest areas, Walmart and other parking areas and truck services. Mine also alerts me to traffic problems. If you use it as your primary tool, you'll be in trouble. Just like anything you need to use common sense.

I suppose it might help if I typed out the whole sentence.
"Gotta get to know it better"
Besides directions given, I use an atlas & where needed, specific paper maps -
Mark Kling Thanks this.
