I'd love to have a kitchen. I could swing a super sleeper, but the restrictions on weight I could pull would definitely put a kink in my slinky.

And that is the true beauty of the trucking industry.
The right niche can be found for nearly every type of person.

I got fired from my last foodservice job in 94.
Scene of the crime was tasty pastry in clay center Kansas I'm in the trailer about a 100 degrees stacking a 2 wheeler as this old bag is reaming my can cause the warehouse sent the wrong stuff again ....that's when I my fug ittt alarm went off .
I jumped out of the trailer , slammed the doors as I told the old bag I didn't give a shmidt if she ever got it .
Cranked up the ac and hauled arse for omaha ....immediately upon my arrival I was fired and winged my uniforms out the window of my pick up as I lapped the parking lot a few times .
A few days later I was driving for hill brothers again .

I own my truck and trailer, I'm independent.

I'm single with no kids and basically live in my truck doing OTR. I like it because it's constant travel, it's always someplace different to see. I hate repetition to the point that I can't even stand driving back and forth on the same highway several times in a row. I'm always looking for places to pick up or deliver in a city I've never been to before, it's practically a priority for me when booking loads.

Otr worked for me for many years. I could take time with friends and family in different parts of the country when I wanted. I had a legal address on Tx and that's all I needed at the time. I was a O/O through those years and could not imagine working for some of the companies running today.

I took a semi-local job 8 years ago so I could be a bigger part of my daughter's childhood. Since then I've logged a little over a million miles worth of round trips between Michigan and Chicagoland. That's a million miles of mostly I94. My family is worth it, but I sure do miss having some variety. I used to love the 2 lane country roads and the small towns out in the middle of nowhere. Now that I have permission from my better half to go back out next year, I'm definitely looking at the options. The only problem is I don't think I'll be happy unless I'm the dispatcher so I've got some learning to do.

Because i love my wife, but not enough to want to see her every single day? (The feeling is reciprocal, after about 1 week off, she wants to kill me if I'm at the house cause it messes up her schedule)

I think my wife wanted to kill me for awhile after I left my old OTR job and messed up her routine. There was definitely a transitional period.
