Why Do You Exceed The Speed Limit?

To each his own. I'm in SoCal and I would challenge you to go from one end of the city to the other without hitting traffic.

 

Absolutely. I usually work nights now, but I occasionally cover for our one daytime driver, most of his route is in the greater Seattle area. It basically amounts to "I'll take the 55 minute commute across town for 15 miles instead of the 1.5 hour, 10 mile commute to the next stop..."

 

Why would someone go to AA and get counseling for alcoholism if they did not think they had a problem?

I hear what your saying. Now let me tell you where I'm coming from. I was given this gig 15 years ago beacause the driver who used to do this got terminated for getting two tickets, following too closely and speeding. According to my tax return, last year I made $80~k. That's for being home every night and having three day weekends(mostly). Do you think that I will do anything to risk losing this gig and giving it to some other junior driver? Absolutely freaking not. Six more years and I'm calling it quits. Between now and then I will do what it takes to keep this job.

There's a smart time to speed and a dumb time in 20 plus years I've gotten 1 speeding ticket and I always run 5 to 10 over in good driving conditions

 

As a veteran driver, I'm certainly more qualified that a committee of bureaucrats.

 

@scottied67 I find it interesting that you give 4-wheelers a pass while investing so much effort into changing how others' trucks are driven.
