I don't think it is any more convuluted logic than someone saying exceeding the speed limit is safer than going the speed limit.

In Okinawa Japan, we were told all accidents involving one of us Americans and a Japanese national would automatically be the American's fault; after all if we had never joined the Marines we would never have visited their little country therefore never would have been involved in an accident.

If for instance, we ran over and killed a chicken, you'd have to visit the aggrieved party 3 times each time offering more and more restitution. So the first time you'd offer to replace the chicken 1:1 and be rejected. Then you'd offer to replace the chicken with two chickens 2:1 and be rejected. Then you'd offer ten chickens 10:1 and be accepted because you killed a chicken that might have gone on and gave birth to 9 baby chickens for the farmer.

Considering they cause most of the crashes, you should focus on them first.

None of that changes the fact that your analogy was apples-to-oranges.

Even private pilots face way more scrutiny than any 4-wheeler.

If it's that easy maybe I'll go get one. Always wanted to fly. Would be cool to say I can legally operate any type of vehicle I can get my hands on.... bike car truck or plane. Neat :D

The analogy was simply thus: professional vs ametuer.

Higher standards apply to those who get paid to do the thing in question. Be it driving, flying, baby sitting your brothers kids, or building your mother bird house.

Its pretty easy. The hardest part for most folks is learning to steer with their feet. Other than that its really just watching your gauges. You can knock the classroom hours out in a long weekend and then go up with an instructor for an hour or two when your home.

Be careful. Its addictive. And ridiculously pricey today. Used to be i could rent a 152 for 60 to 80 an hour including fuel. But today its a lot more due to insurance rates skyrocketing, and doesnt include the fuel. Av gas is outrageously priced cause the taxes on it are astronomical.
