I hear you....My rig at a half tank of fuel...is 32K.....It's fine for lighter loads...but anything over 46K...I have to play games with the fuel stay legal...Especially in CO...
    I ran over the Trinidad coop's scales....I was at 3/8's of a tank with a 47K load...Their scale said I was barely legal....79,800 gross.........:biggrin_2552:

Dave, some guys like the lights. Hubby doesn't have a lot of lights on his truck, only the usual markers on the bottom and the 10 lights across the top of the visor. The trailer has three rows of 5. And they are bright. But I've seen hoppers that have a lot more.

Yes this guy was tired. Funny thing is, he loaded before my husband at the same place with the same load going there, and my husband still beat him there by two and a half hours. :yes2557:

And he wasn't a newbie by any means. Fact of the matter is, we figure his company was pushing him, and didn't get the rest time that he needed. We will never know, but thats our suspicion.

It had been pouring down rain that day and night. And for some people, the wipers kind of hypnotize you. To that could have been another factor as well.

I guess if the guy has the money to light up his truck with hundreds of lights, more power to him. Its one way that the O/O can be proud of his rig, you know? :biggrin_255:

It becomes my business when I'm trying to sleep with my sleeper vents open and somebody id needlessly putting pollutants in the air I breathe.

Last night 53* in Gila Bend,AZ with a nice breeze blowing. The parking lot is half empty and two trucks, one on each side, pull beside me and sit there idling. I pulled out and nosed in.

my tractor is painted black, so i run the a/c alittle earlier in the year than most. i do most of the time try not to idle, but will for comfort and good rest, i will. i also leave the lights on so somebody won't bust off the doghouse while i'm sleeping. i could care less if anyone thinks i'm showing off. it's easier on the guy who is backing in next to me to see, and i sleep better knowing i have done everything i can to protect what's mine.

last summer a guy woke me up and asked if i would shut the truck down so he could rest. i was there long before him, and refused...politely.... but it made him mad. i told him perhaps he was too delicate for trucking and asked him if he had ever considered being a hairdresser. dude really got mad, but shut his yap when i opened the door.

if i have a good year this year, i'll invest in an a.p.u.. until then, i'll idle. i'll nose in when i can, mostly to protect the tractor, but if it helps the next guy sleep, then that's fine too. if you want to whine about my lights being on, well, get over it. i figure the next guy might be tired too, and maybe i can keep him/her from bending their ride. not to mention sometimes it rains....

of all the things to cry about. lights.
