-28 truck shut off at 1900. Turn key at 0500 fired right up.

Only time left running is when fuel line to bunk heater froze. Both times near Greeley, CO.

In my humble opinion, all that stuff is snake oil.

They have Lucas high temp grease at Wal Mart with John Force plastic tube for $6.
They have Wal Mart high temp grease that meets the same ANSI spec $3.50.

That's what I slobber the 5th wheel with. Wrench uses Mobile on the truck.

No additives here. Except what TA, PFJ, LOVES, AMBEST put in there fuel.

The place where I park my truck, they are going to sell me their Bulk Def for $1.80 gallon lol.

Fifth wheel grease is fifth wheel grease, if some company can't make fifth wheel grease I wouldn't use anything they make. The stuff you get at Wal-Mart I'm guessing is specially packaged and labeled for retail. I've used enough Lucas oil additive to know it does help slow oil leaks and keep the pressure up a little. I've used enough of their injector cleaner to know it helps a bit too. You shouldn't need any sort of additives for any of those reasons on a relatively low miles truck.

565K sitting here. I wished y'all make up your minds on what is high/low miles, etc.

I thought it was supposed to blow up by now.

Dude does the oil samples for nothing. It's how we in the modern Era head off, or try to, the catastrophic events.

I mean, I've gotten used to plugging in my cell phone too. Times change.

If a half a million miles is within spitting distance of high miles on a truck engine the EPA needs to be disbanded and California told to suck eggs out of a dead chicken, 70s technology does better than that, what happened to progress and technology making everything better?

Not all was better back then. I recall my 92 425C recommended Rods and Mains @ 500 k up from 250 k on B models. I took the first Truck that I bought straight from dealer to Cat and had them done right at 500 k. Cost the same $1000 as the so called major component warranty I turned down.Old ones still looked good but at the time it was worth the peace of mind to me as there was no room for failure.

So what is high mileage then?

How's the fuel economy with that 70's technology?

Excuse me, but are you asking a businssmen to give you the ABC's of how to steal their business? You want the phone numbers of their customers and brokers and the rates they haul for.

    Not happening.

That being said, it needs to be understood by EVERY businessman that drives a truck that there ARE good rates out there, even in bad markets. There ARE strategies for getting those rates.

The best way to NOT figure out HOW to get better rates is to lambast successful folks and call them a liar. Just sayin'...

There is plenty of good advice in this thread in particular and this forum in general. Stow the idea that everybody must be suffering from cheap freight and start researching HOW successful drivers are consistently pulling freight that pays well. Emulate success, don't denigrate it.
