I don't really care how much a broker skims as long as I'm getting my rate and they are respectful and professional. We both need to stay in business! Those are the guys I work with.., the rest of the lying jokers can go pound sand.
Did you know that truckers can legally request to see X amount between broker & customer? After the load delivers of course...but at least you'll know.
WE BOTH NEED TO STAY IN BUSINESS? No. This is the "TRUCKING" industry. In truth, brokering is not a natural function of trucking. It's a leach. Just because their are here does not validate their existence.
Dang, didn't think I'd run into a deep existential crisis here on the TTR forums today. Trying to figure out what validates my existence now.
Most people dislike the notion of a middleman , no risk and lions share of profit . Im not saying thats all brokers but there are crooks in every industry.
They hate brokers because it’s another middleman between the transaction meaning another hand grabbing into the pot. A broker makes finding a load easier so in turn he’s going to want a piece of the action. The issue becomes they like to lie about what the rate actually pays so you’re thinking ok they’re just taking 10% when in reality they’re taking 25%-35%. It isn’t an issue when the loads paying well but when times are hard and everyone is pinching pennies you start seeing this stupid $1 a mile loads it really irritates you that someone actually made that offer. Another issue is companies and brokerages from other countries are putting their hand in the US freight market and they do not know what the going rate is so they end up seriously underbidding for the freight so then the market starts getting used to those cheap rates.
Your competitors are the real problem. It's not the brokers fault that carriers accept poor rates. They wouldn't be offering $1 a mile freight if some ignoramus hadn't already booked it for that.
