    They will ignore you cold.

If they DID want you, you are going to have a wedding really fast with them. Sometimes you are hired on the phone while rolling the last miles to the old company you are planning to quit to go to orientation the following monday wherever it may be.

    It's normal. And expected.

Now what is not expected but happened twice was two called back to clue me in about black listing etc from a particular carrier. A tidbit of information outside of DAC. Then I know how to manage the situation.

Lot of these companies just collect applications and resumes as part of their daily job. They never know when they piss off enough drivers that a whole lot of them might jump ship all at once.

I have gotten calls back from outfits I applied for six months or a year before. The thing is, often the process of choosing a driver is done be some office troll that has no clue what makes a good driver or what qualities to look for. When that guy crashed the truck, pisses off the customer, or royally screws up the job, the same stupid office troll runs down her list of rejects and hopes to fill the spot she screwed up in the fist place.

One additional thing. If you leave a company sometimes on good terms, they may call back every few months for a few years. One did. I had to finally tell them to take me off the list because medically there is no way. But I did thank them for considering me. They don't know how happy they made me by doing that. 15000 drivers to babysit and they want me back. Ha.

i am surprised that the LOA , did not disqualify you from going back. it had been my thought, that a LOA means just that, (for personal or medical reasons) and one does not seek other employment during that time, as this is to be taken as you quit.

unless that "new employer" is paying you cash, daily, sooner or later, all wages get reported.

i'd be highly interested in knowing if Werner finds out about this and fires you, as you started work else where's.

just a warning of what has happened in the past, and maybe still does.

Well I will go along with David Simpson on that.

To take a LOA and use it against the employer to join another, that's no good.

If you needed to go, then speak up and go.

I'll let you in on what happened to me many years ago.

I had a job, that for the most part, i liked, it was dedicated as well.

it was 5 nights per week, salary, so i could depend on a steady check, and not have to bust my hump to get the miles.

ok, but like so many others, i wanted more money, so i applied to maybe about 6 places.

I got a phone call (this was when we could talk and drive). my manager in the HQ, told me i was fired, seems like he got "a lot of calls about me seeking work".

well, i was driving on I-95 in CT, north bound, about 30 miles before the Waterford scales. i told him, "well if i am fired, i can park your #### truck, trailer and this load, and walk away"...

immediate silence, on HIS part. he then says to me, "ok, just take everything back to the starting point, and the manager there will meet you and together we will talk via conference call.

he knew i had him at stopping the truck and walking away, on I-95.

i get back, he says (on the conference call) he was displeased that i was seeking another job. i told him i like my job now, but want more money. it was that simple.

I DID GET another $50 per week pay raise!

I DID find another job (one of those calls), for yet ANOTHER dedicated account!

when i left, the company REDUCED that runs pay scale. then just slightly over a year after i left?

they folded up tighter than a bankrupt dealer in Vegas.

so what i am deriving at is, that company you are at now?

may have called Werner for a reference.

your job, may not be there, and if it is? I can assure you, you will not like the return engagement.

just telling you what happened to me, is an all too real possibility, for you!
