i have two 25 lb. dumb bells in my truck. Use them for Squats, curls. Push ups. Lots of them. I never eat fast food. I load up groceries at Walmart. Fruits, nuts, whole grain bread. Healthy snacks like low sugar yogurt. No sodas. I drink water. I don't work out every day. Sometimes I just want to crawl in my bunk at the end of the day. But there is time. Like waiting for the next load. You have to do some lifting or this job will turn you to mush. It's all about personal responsibility and self respect.
Why don't you exercise ?

I'm one of the few that exercise... I walk around the truck stop for an hour at least 3 times a week... I try and look on google maps to see if the area the truck stop is in has a residential neighbor hood or something along the lines of that so I can walk without being cut off or ran over by a lot of the ignorant drivers that are in 5th gear through the truck stop parking lot... I also keep a set of 25lb dumbbells on the floor in front on the passenger seat, if the weather doesn't permit me to walk outside or If I'm being held up at a shipper or receiver I pull them out and get a workout in with them... You can do crunches in the bunch and I try and do a few set up pushups in the shower room. As far as eating I don't carry any food on the truck with the exception of a couple cases of water... I eat subway and salads from the fast food joints... I don't drink mountain dew my the gallon as do a lot of the drivers. I belong to a gym near my house so when I'm off I always look forward to an hour or two at the gym ( $19.99 a month membership ) I never have much of a problem parking at a truck stop because 99% of the time I'm as far back as possible...
Being a fat and lazy truck driver is nothing but a sad excuse... Those are generally the ones that you have to hold your nose next to because they are so lazy they rarely shower or wash there clothes... I also don't have a TV in my truck...
I work for a smaller outfit in the Chicago area so I get above average miles a week, So the excuse of a lot of " I don't Have time driver's " IMO is BS...
Like the above poster said I take pride in Myself and the company I work for... I have all my teeth, In shape, and dress proper and clean... The choice is yours... -
That's my point, I am very active at home. Still rope steers competitively at 38 or 39 I can't remember really. Will still walk or wade that 2 miles into blue hole cause that's where the goodin's are. I can still sprint with the best of em don't believe me open the gate before I'm ready and you will see. Eating healthy goes a long way, although I refuse to give up my two pepsi's a day. I deserve some type of reward for the pain and suffering this old man takes on a daily basis.

The diesel fumes at truck stops create a heavily toxic breathing environment. Probably the worst place possible to exercise or walk... I avoid truck stops for just that reason.jjsiegal and CargoWahgo Thank this.

Yeah, not a huge fan of them either. Rest areas are much better imho.
Wish the feds would get up of their #####, and throwing our money around at things that don't help us- atleast build more rest areas/parking areas or build them a bit larger.
Oh well.NewNashGuy Thanks this. -
drives that say there too tired after driving all day to exercise. should really force themselves to exercise some. they will probably find they sleep much better and there energy levels are much better with some daily exercise. at least i know that's the case for me.
HalpinUout and Chucktshoes Thank this. -
Oh boy here we go... Add that to the list of excuses.... LMFAOmisterG Thanks this. -
I walk to the buffet four times a day you would think that is enough exercise!

Having always been an active person and moving from a very active career/lifestyle to trucking, I quickly decided that, should I end up unable to land a local gig and go OTR, there will be resistance bands, dumb bells and a jump rope in my truck. diet is a no-brainer for me, I loathe fast food/junk food. Matter of fact, it struck me that the majority my diet is rather compatible with the creature in my avatar, as some would call it.

Makes me wander how many drivers here complaining about being too tired are actually suffering from Low Testosterone. That was my problem 3 months ago, now I feel like freaking superman, dropping fat, like no ones business, and getting back to my old size in highschool
