why do MOST (not all) carriers use greyhound/local greyhound subcidiary to bring their new drivers in? is it because its so cheap? why?
one other argument I heard is "because it sucks" its so crappy it encourages you to stay since thats your ride home if you quit, leave, get fired
I hope I didn't scare away future drivers with this post
why greyhound? why?

Because the bus is cheaper then renting a car my guess would be.Although some companies rent cars and some fly ya in.A company I drove for kb transportation flies their drivers in.I learned yrs ago not to drive for any company that's hundreds of miles from me.A hundred miles is about all I can stand on the bus.
-
I can't think of any other bus companies. Are there any others?

Jefferson which is far better then Greyhound.Seats are more comfortable and drivers are much more friendlier.

Good God, can you imagine the car rental bill? to contiue that thought, so many people under 25 are recruited and its very hard (and can be expensive) to get a rental for a "minor" Schneider let me have a rental car to go home after oreintation and to pick my truck up, they also offered me one after my concussion, but genius me turned it down (I just had a concussion, do you really want me driving)
one company flew me in, but made me bus home (where I almost got mugged and killed) -
Never seen a Jefferson bus out this way. I've seen amtrak busses.
-
Megabus, but they run regional mostly in the Midwest and east. Heard they are the worst lol

Trailways (which is owned by Greybound) Peter Pan (owned by Trailways)
all these companies dock at a Greyhound station and move greyhounds customers, or, greyhound gets their customers...so at the end of the day Greyhound wins! too bad they don't use that money to actually do regular PM's and repairs on their busses, or for English lessons, or customer service classes for their drivers/employees -
Ya I know very expensive.Ive taken a rental car a couple times to orientation.
