I've made no secret of my loathing of the Plus1 program. I understand the reason it was created (lazy drivers) but it is seriously flawed.
Latest example: I get the preplan this morning for my load. Came @ 0935. The pickup window was 0800-0945. REALLY! Since I knew better (broker load, FCFS 0800-1600) I didn't think twice about it. Problem is this garbage happens constantly and way too many drivers take these crap times seriously.
And what about the "floating delivery window"
Example: preplan shows a window of 09/26 0800-1600 (in reality it was 0000-2359) yet because I sent my MT call 3 hours BEFORE my PTA the dispatch has a new delivery window of 09/26 0001-0600. Are you SERIOUS? Again I knew better and ignored it. Problem is way too many new drivers would have taken it serious.

Let people live and learn. I don't work for swift, but my current load has a delivery window of 10/24 2359, which means deliver anytime before that date. But please believe there are people that will sit until that time waiting to deliver
-
I pretty much ignore it all round broker or otherwise ... the only time I use MAC 9 to adjust times is if I don't want the load and I give them something ridiculous to get the load off of me.
-
I use 12/28 2359 on loads I don't want. I have talk to few planners that hate it. I think they need to have the plus one in a better form and use it as a probation for newer drivers. If they want to keep it. It a dumb system that they should get rid of. Its a daily fight with it.

Another way that it sucks, say that you know that it is drop, but they put in a del time of 0400 and you have to drive a few hours to get to your final. Now your clock has started, you drop and you wait for a pplan, never mind trying to find a place to park at 0400. Now by the time that you receive the pplan, maybe already used about 8 hours. Now you get a pplan, live load and 60 miles away. Now you might have used up 11 hours, so where are you going to really go. effeciate, nope.

Those of us that understand what Plus-1 is, and how it works, know how to use it to our own best advantage.
And I explain it to new drivers when I get the chance.
I am one of the 'lazy drivers'.
I like a bit more time to work with.
I don't run any differently under Plus-1. I just have to play with the system a bit more.scottied67 Thanks this. -
im lazy to a point but I always like a decent window, normally I will push to get it earlier in the window but knowing that I have an extra few hours takes some stress out of the drive.
I have seen a few of those plans where its 9:30 and a plan comes in to pick up a hour away at 9:45 and im thinking wtf? Then when I do the mac9 and say 1100 most of the time I get a new plan with the new times...
I have heard some drivers who will turn down a load without trying to adjust the times, you might of just shot yourself in the foot to get a decent load that day... -
If drivers are turning down loads without putting the times in, it is a big no no, and they will get a talking to. The whole reason for the MAC 9 class
Tapeworm Thanks this. -
I got a talking to before not putting hours in but I put in comments why I was declining, guess they didnt like that

now I will put a time and a comment and they havent bothered me since. -
OR, you put down a reason. Like today: too many MT miles
