The only real truck drivers are loggers and OTR flatbedders/car haulers. OTR van/reefer/tanker are steering wheel holders. Local P&D, fuel, beverage, and food service means you're just a delivery boy. And then the worst of the worst is LTL linehaul you aren't even human at that point. This is the undisputed hierarchy of trucking according to plant.

I'll take a fat pay check over the right to call myself a "real trucker" any day lol.

wow...completely off base, yet concise and you spelled all the words correctly!

I drive L/H and will take my 90-100K annually, be home in the morning and perhaps share coffee with my buddies at the local GM plant, who too make 6 figures! I'll leave the .35cpm to the "real truckers"!

Exactly what I was going to say. If it takes being away from the family for days at a time and not making nearly as much money, I'm ok with not being a "real trucker" I'll take my 80K a year and being home every night over that.

There are real truckers out there breathing in that Lake Michigan breeze as they sling chains over that US Steel and roll out those tarps, dirty and gritty, getting ready for a 3 day haul down to Houston where they will rendezvous with Bubba and have a big ol' chicken fried steak at the iron skillet. That's real trucking, that's living. Then we have you guys, clean shaven, showered, with your shirt tucked in, getting ready to drive the same stretch of road you did yesterday and the day before, because you sold your trucking soul out to the almighty dollar. Heart breaking...

I hate to burst your bubble but there's lots of us ltl guys that have been over the road and know what it's all about. To each their own I guess. If you want to work more for less money be my guest.

    Radman Thanks this.
