If that's your thing, cool. Most end dump work kinda sucks. Crappy equipment, crappy hours etc. home every night doesn't necessarily mean quality time at home.

Does Micky D's give you rent free accommodations with all utilities paid?

    Thought not.

I disagree. I've never spent one night away from home for eight years and make $50k a year. Even my first year was $30k+ for a nine month year. McDonald's doesn't pay half of that.

Just because you haven't found it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

There is nothing wrong with working at McDonald's. It is honest work. There are benefits at McDonald's you can't get anywhere else. The best thing is that you are very likely young. The money you make there does not go to supporting a family. So you can afford to work hard for less money. I would trade a large percentage of my wealth for a chance to be 15 again.

Life has choices. We all value different things. Weekends mean nothing to me. My father was a photographer and did weddings on weekends. I do not have children at home any more so that is not a problem. Home time is important but when is not.

The second driving a truck becomes a job, then you can figure out how much you are giving up by working it. For me, after 10 years, it is a good way to relax. It is a well paying retirement. In fact, I wish Obama was a trucker right now.

Wrong. There are plenty of regional gigs even a new driver can get that will get him or her home on the weekends. I'm in one now, except I'm home for the whole weekend not just 34 hours.

Wrong again. A driver making $14 and hour and working 14 hour days is gonna make a whole #### pile more money than a McDonald's worker and probably be happier. And if said driver gets over time they are really gonna make more money than a McDonald's employee.

As for being a noob and wanting home everyday and weekends off? All you have to do is look for a beverage delivery job.

Sounds like you need to find a new company. I work Texas regional, am home weekends and holidays, have paid health insurance and make #### good money.

Well know that you tried to scare some potential drivers away, let's set the record straight. Most brand spanking new OTR guys should be grossing $700-$800 or so per week.

And if they aren't they need to find a company that will pay that. When I started otr I was 28 cpm and routinely did more than 2700 miles per week.

You have to make this industry work for you, which is why it's important to be a safe driver with a clean record.
