It might be best to just do the ten class days and get this all over with. I agree it's brain dead stupid but the time you spend resisting is time you aren't earning.

Do they want more money now?

I got my cdl from Albany Technical College 12 years ago. Trained there, tested out there.

I suspect he might already have the class A, and it’s just a matter of removing the “E” restriction. A bobtail should suffice for that once all the other tests were satisfied.

I had an instructor test me out from ATDS. But I did take the ELDT course because that law already passed before I went to school. It just consisted of a video and is an absolute joke.

In order to remove an auto restriction with a valid CDL A you only have to road test with a manual. The school who took your $1400 screwed you.

that’s interesting the class of vehicle isn’t mentioned or if it needs to be a combination.

I didn't notice that at first, according to how it's written you could take the test in an old Dodge 3500 as long as it had numbers.

I don't think an auto restriction means much anymore. All trucks come standard with autos now. I haven't jammed gears since mid 2018 and I don't miss it.

Depends on the state.. but a lot of states will designate some companies as third party testers (they have to test anyone who meet the state requirements not just their own candidates, The testers have third party examiners who are licensed through the states. Sorry if that was a 5 dollar answer..
