Overloaded, weak sub frame. More than likely paper rolls.

I really like that company. Kicked me out of orientation day 1 for having a 11 over speeding ticket several years prior. Over qualified and no criminal record. 12 years later, Thanks US express. err i mean U.S. XPRE55 ENTERPRI5E5

Yup, there could be a million and one reasons why this happened. I just hope that US Xpress safety department declares this as unpreventable. I would hate for a driver, who's not a trailer mechanic, to lose his job/safety bonus for an issue he had no idea was a problem.

And if I'm not mistaken, every time a driver hits a terminal their truck must be inspected, along with the trailer they entered with. If that is the case, then something went horribly wrong. (Again, million and one reasons on how this could have happened).

A few years ago, the outfit I am leased to now, had a deal with JB Hunt to move some stuff around the Detroit area. It was actually paying pretty good for the actual work. Part of the deal was that we had to use their trailers, I was the guinea pig...

I found the trailer, it was around 3 years old at the time. I hooked up to it and did my thing. It was stuffed between two trailers, so I squeezed in there and was able to get the landing gear off the ground enough to drag her out. Brakes would not release... So, I drug her out with the locked up brakes to inspect.

Remember, this is a three year old trailer... Well, the tires were shot, almost to the steel radials. No mud flaps. The brakes were metal to metal, and two of the liners were obviously cracked. The lights did not work either, imagine that? Structure above the tires was damaged too, like the trailer was taken off road and bottomed out, tearing the metal crossmembers out. This trailer looked like it had been through hell and back. I did manage to get the brakes released by beating on them with a 3lb drilling hammer and rolled it back into its hole. LOL!

I called the boss and told him my findings... I received $200 for my troubles and went back up the street to the truck stop to wait for another load.
