Is there any companies that stay off the east coast and never venture there?

Yes, just as there are companies that don't go west, or only run the mid-west etc.

i think we as a country ought to line the western and southern edges of Pennsylvania with cross docks. 48's and 53's on one side and the pups or straight trucks on the other. most of the NE was settled as far back as 400 years ago. they have hardly made any allowances for the changes in trucking. for the most part, they don't want us up there, why fight it? it sucks. horrific traffic, no parking, tolls upon tolls upon tolls... let them break down a 53' to two 28' trucks and let them go in all the little spots. may even open up some market for little cargo vans and pickup trucks. - if i could ever get the ear of the president/congress/FMC/DOT i'd certain pitch this idea.

It's not that drivers don't want to do the east coast, most of us just don't want to do it for what these NE regional companies are paying. 50cpm to put up with all that crap and only 2kish miles a week? No thanks. I can make more money running easier miles in places that don't have me wanting to kill myself and everyone else around me. If they paid around 65+cpm for it I might consider it, or had a guaranteed 1400+ a week and home on weekends it'd be worth it. But not less, at least not to me.

Edit: FFS, KNOCK IT OFF WITH THESE NECROS, THIS WAS A 6 YEAR OLD POST YOU DREDGED UP AND I STUPIDLY REPLIED TO WITHOUT CHECKING THE POST DATE.

It takes a special breed to run the north east and its not for everyone. If you grew up out there it aint nothing but a thing. Lots of tolls, heavy rush hour traffic and you gotta be on your game in any of the five boroughs of NY. With that said its not for every one and thats why companies advertise that way.

Yeah mate to right, truck stops are virtually non existent on the east coast i drove from Jersy City to Raighleigh SC on I-95 the only truck stop i encountered was full to capacity, my question is with so many trucks on the road why don't the big fuel companies like Pilot, Loves, Petro etc etc be going full speed ahead building more newer and larger truck stops?

My guess is probably all of the outrageous regulations they would have to deal with up here. Fines, fees, taxs,it's out of this world lol

You are not to far off with that, awhile back there was talk about doing that in California to keep the road trucks out of the L.A. area.

I lived in Boston and other parts of the Commonwealth. There is not enough money in the world to make me drive in Mass. Outside major interstate routes.
