Why no paperwork on rebuilds/maintenance?

Part of my evening ritual is looking through the numerous For Sale threads and papers, always looking for a good deal on a truck. So many times I see something like, "inframe done at 800K, no paperwork" , or supposedly new parts with no receipts.... Makes me wonder the heck is going on with these. My gut says that an O/O will save every receipt possible as it may have tax implications and a lack of paperwork indicates a BS story. I am sure there are exceptions, but why in the world would you not keep proof of a 20K business expense like a rebuild???

I bought mine ( almost) that way, After doing a pressure test, right before I signed papers, the Shop faxed a copy of rebuild. I was going trough with purchase either way. Later I found an envelope full of receipts in the Truck.Everything ever don’t to the Truck since new. I made copies and returned it to Original Owner for his taxes. The Guy was a Little unorganized due to health issues. Sometimes a judgement call is the best you can do. No paperwork? Should be reflected in price.

No paperwork means it didn't happen, doesn't matter if you can tell me date, time, and location. You may be getting a real good deal, you may be getting bent over a barrel. I bought mine that way, didnt turn out too bad and I'd definently do it again.

Just put it all in plastic totes. Like the size of two shoe boxes, is what I use.

Even if there is paper work you need to be sure it goes with that truck.
