Redrider, they all have different styles of teaching... Only had Joe for a day, and he was quite pleasant and helpful. Don't go by what others tell you. Come on in positive and that is what you will have- a positive attitude. I was warned b=about him, but again he was fine with us.
We have Brian for our instructor and have learned so much! He's a great guy and has the patience of Job when it comes to teaching me backing! I was thinking about you today Ginger because he kept asking Jim ( other student in out truck) "Where's your trailer?" It's good to hear though as you can get too focused on one thing while that crazy box behind you has it's own ideas...LOL
As a matter of fact I just gave it yesterday...only to find out in order to get my 8 days of "newly earned" vacation I need to come back in for one day, otherwise it's not paid out. I already have 8 days scheduled for my "carry over" days so not sure the boss can let me go for 16 total days. But we will see, when/if Kim calls I'm outta there...vacation or not, lol. So if everything stays the same, my last day will be the 10th.
Yeah for you!! Make sure you skip while you are leaving on your last day... Heck skip everyehere while at work! It was kinda fun! LOL
Yeah right...so how is school going everything you thought it would be?? You do the dreaded parallel park yet?? I sure hope you get some good weather up there instead of all this rain!
Don't worry over the backing. They give you a formula to nail it every time. It's just up to you to properly implement it and adjust when it goes wrong. Besides the straight back, the offset was easiest for me. The 45 is close right after that (not part of the test, but you'll do it later) then the 90*, but still, nothing to worry about.
Ill give ya something, ive been doing about 1 year, and messed up backing an easy offset tonight 4x in a row. Just relax, GOAL, and take your time. Follow your training and instincts and you'll be fine.
Red, Today was the first day I actually was smiling after I did my backing... Today was the first day I thought, "I can do this!" Again everyone is great here, enjoying every minute of it whether I struggle or not. Have met some great guys and shared a lot of laughs with them. Bring a great attitude with you and you will do great! Today I also got my additional lite reading material since I am the only woman in this class as well as the only one doing curtainside flatbed I got another book...this is on Cargo Securement...UGH. But hey the more info the more I will be prepared...Yeah right as long as I can remember it all! LOL
